News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Nathan Hager. After the speech.
President Trump 0:33
We're going to do better and better and better. This is the golden age of America.
Nathan Hager 0:37
President Trump plans to hit the road with his rosy State of the Union message. Vice President J.D. Vance will start with a trip to a Wisconsin factory tomorrow. The president heads to Texas on Friday ahead of that state's congressional primaries next week. Bloomberg's Bill Ferry's reports President Trump might not have given Democrats much in the way of new policy in the address.
Bill Ferry 0:57
We did hear a lot of the greatest hits of the president. He talked about egg prices coming down. We've heard that before. He talked about how he thinks lower interest rates are ultimately going to help the housing market. But we didn't really hear new policies. A lot of those voters who are out there saying, hey, this economy is not working for me right now. What else have you got?
Nathan Hager 1:19
Bloomberg's Bill Ferrys reports President Trump also talked about continuing with tariffs after the Supreme Court's, quote, very disappointing ruling against his emergency duties. This morning, the head of House Republicans campaign arm Richard Hudson told Bloomberg government tariffs will be a net plus heading into the midterms. U.S. Trade Representative Jameson Greer says the president will sign a directive to raise his global tariff to 15 percent where appropriate in the coming days. Greer was a guest on Bloomberg Surveillance.
Unknown 1:48
Remember, before the Supreme Court struck down the tariffs, a lot of these countries had agreed to have tariffs, U.S. tariffs on them of 18 percent, 19 percent, 20 percent. So going up to 15 percent for them, at least temporarily, it's better than the deal that they had.

U.S. Trade Rep Jameson Greer says he'll speak with the EU soon about how to accommodate the bloc if the higher tariff violates their trade agreement. Iran is pushing back at President Trump's State of the Union comments about its nuclear program.
President Trump 2:17
They want to start all over again and are at this moment again pursuing their sinister ambitions.
Nathan Hager 2:24
This morning, two Iranian officials called the president's remarks big lies. At the same time, they said negotiations could lead to an agreement through honorable diplomacy.

What does President Trump plan for his upcoming road trip?

Nathan Hager 2:33
The next round of Geneva talks on Iran's nuclear program is set for tomorrow with U.S. Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. On Wall Street, tech shares are leading gains this morning as the focus turns to the earnings story of the week. AI chip giant NVIDIA reports after the closing bell. Matthew Bloxham is a tech analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence.
Matthew Bloxham 2:52
Really the focus is going to be on what they say about Q1 for this next financial year and actually if they say anything at all about the full year 2027. The market for the 2027 year is looking for about $335 billion of revenue, up almost 60% to $120 billion year-on-year increase in sales.
Nathan Hager 3:14
Matt Bloxham with Bloomberg Intelligence. Ahead of those earnings, NVIDIA shares are higher by 1.25%. That's got the S&P 500 higher by 0.5%. NVIDIA accounts for 8% of the index. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is higher by two-tenths of one percent, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite is higher by almost one percent. Netflix shares are higher by more than four percent, even after Warner Bros. Discovery said the latest buyout offer from Paramount Skydance may be better than the streaming giant's existing deal. Bloomberg's Manuel Bigori has more.
Manuel Bigori 3:46
Paramount came back with another suite and offered $31 a share for a full buyout of Warner Brothers. And now, obviously, Warner Brothers has indicated that they are open to further talks.
Nathan Hager 4:02
That's Bloomberg's Manuel by Gorey. Bloomberg Intelligence says Netflix could raise its offer of $27.75 a share for Warner Studios and HBO Max streaming service to $29.50 a share and still make the math work.
