News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Doug Krisner. Overnight, the U.S. and Iran traded military strikes following the deaths of two American service members in Jordan. Another is still missing, and after a search, U.S. Central Command said unidentified remains have been found and a verification process is underway. At the same time, Central Command said a third service member was killed this weekend and another injured in northern Iraq as a controlled detonation of an unexploded Iranian attack drone was taking place. And a short while ago on social media, Central Command posted the U.S. military began conducting strikes against Iran for a ninth consecutive night, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Time, and the Kuwaiti army also announcing it was intercepting incoming Iranian drone attacks.

The Americans seem to be hitting more and more inland In Iran and also in the Strait of Hormuz, which obviously is the choke point, is the focus of this latest flare-up, I think historians will look back at this and may even call this the War of Hormuz rather than the Iran War. Meantime, Gulf countries are now rerouting oil flows away from the Strait of Hormuz. Iraq is now using a fleet of trucks to carry oil through Syria. Now, that process can take up to four days to reach Syria's Mediterranean ports. In the last several months, Syria has gone from shipping no fuel to making up more than a quarter of Middle Eastern volumes.
