Bloomberg's Tyler Kendall.
We did get confirmation of the extended trade truce. It comes in at two months, which brings the deadline to January 10th.
What does the confirmed two‑month extension of the U.S.–China trade truce mean for the market?
Though it is worth noting that this comes in below expectations that we were going to see a three to six month extension and well below what Beijing was pushing for, which was a two-year extension to bring this to the end of President Trump's term.
Bloomberg's Tyler Kendall reporting from the White House. Oil pairing back earlier gains after a Reuters report that US and Iranian negotiators are exploring a phased path out of war that would involve Tehran reopening the Strait of Hormuz and Washington lifting its economic blockade of Iran. На біг'я сади вс ⁇ . An Iranian official tells Reuters that the most plausible way to end the impasse would be a phased agreement. How are U.S. and Iranian negotiators planning a phased reopening of the Strait of Hormuz?
U.S. mortgage rates have topped 7% for the first time in nearly two years. New home sales in the U.S. climbed in August, the fastest pace this year, suggesting a mix of price cuts and sales incentives may be helping ease affordability constraints.
Bomberg's and a current.
That's just more or less in line with expectations. And that number really leans into what we kind of already know. The jobs market is in a good space. These initial jobless came claims this morning reinforcing the idea that we haven't seen, you know, broad based announcements of layoffs, for example, and we know that the official uh jobs ad is also pointing towards robust employment and low unemployment at the moment.
Bloomberg's Endocurren reports continuing claims are little changed at 1.72 million near their lowest level in three years. Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammock says the labor market remains close to maximum employment.
The inflation outlook continues to be highly uncertain.
What impact did the energy‑flow hopes have on oil prices and stock markets today?
With risks tilted to the upside.
Hammock delivered the opening remarks at the Inflation Drivers and Dynamics 2026 conference at the Cleveland Federal Reserve. Philadelphia Fed President Anna Paulson says another rate hike might be necessary if conditions evolve the way she expects.
As always, I'll be watching the data and listening closely to what businesses and workers are telling me.
Paulson spoke at the FinTech conference hosted by the Philadelphia Federal Reserve. The Trump administration says it has restored access for now to three media outlets the president had banned from White House grounds last week. Reporters from Politico, CNN, and MS Now started to return to the White House grounds after a federal court ordered a suspension of the ban. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a ruling temporarily barring the White House from enforcing that ban while the lawsuit filed by the media companies proceeds.
