He had never thrown that many pitches, but he had thrown a lot of pitches a handful of times in the past. He had thrown a no-hitter with 114 pitches. He was maintaining his velocity well. All that stuff, all those things were pointing in the right direction. And you could manage the extra load, the extra fatigue coming out of it thanks to the All-Star break. So glad he was able to extend that. Unfortunately, he did not get there. But what are you going to do?
