The music will eventually stop. The music won't stop for the Toronto Blue Jays. They win three of four against the Detroit Tigers. In doing so, they pull into first place in the American League. They pull into first place in Major League Baseball. Not even a loss on Sunday. 10-4 at the hands of the Tigers could change that fact. The Toronto Blue Jays enter today, which is trade deadline week. First in Major League Baseball in record. They've been the best team in the league since the second week of May. We've chopped it up a million different ways on the show over the last couple months. It's been unbelievably fun. And here we are at trade deadline week, which is whether you are very good or very bad or somewhere in between.
The most fun week of the season outside of the playoffs and maybe opening week depending on how big a transactions sicko you are. So... the stakes are very, very high for the Toronto Blue Jays. They're in first, and you can look at things like run differential or what the rotation's done or what the bullpen looks like on paper, and you can unquestionably look at this group and say they're very, very good, but you could always add a little bit more. That's obvious in the bullpen. We will spend the week talking about whether that means something for an additional bat on the bench, whether that means something for a little extra starting pitching depth, although every time Eric Lauer and Max Scherzer take the hill, it looks a little bit less obvious
like you'll need anything other than insurance in that spot. A huge week ahead. We've got a big lineup of guests all through the week. John Marossi will join us tomorrow. Jim Bowden will join us Wednesday from the Newsbreaker side. Our Sportsnet people will be in and out throughout the week as well. And we've got extended hours. Tomorrow and Wednesday, we're going to go until 1230 because the Blue Jays have 1230 games as they play four games in three days against the Baltimore Orioles. We will also be on air 10 to 2. on Thursday for an extended deadline show. Should be a lot of fun. Again, one of the most fun weeks of the year. The Blue Jays couldn't be more fun the last little bit. It's been awesome to see how many people have, you know, how many people who follow the team casually have gotten on in a more hardcore way.
How many people from, say, the basketball aspect of my life or just non-baseball fans have kind of gotten in the last little bit. It feels... like there is some real momentum to the team in the city in the summer. The weather is great as well, although 52 degrees in Baltimore tomorrow may be a little hot even for someone like me. So that's the week ahead. It'll be a lot of fun. Again, we'll talk a bunch of trade stuff. We will also talk about the team that is because they're about to play in three days against Baltimore Orioles and continue to try to defend. what's now the best record in baseball.
