What is the opening banter and preview for today’s show?
No game action, but a little juggling of the rotation and some out-of-town baseball to keep you occupied with the Blue Jays off. On Monday, it's JSTOC Plus, it's Blake Murphy and Julia Kreutz. And Julia, before we get into the baseball stuff, big series to preview throughout the day tonight. Uh you are going to the game as a fan tonight. Yeah. Sorry to give that away. There will be forty thousand people lining up to say hi and get your autograph now. But learn something about you in this person.
Okay. What did you okay, what did you learn? Okay, so you did get the tickets for me, which is very nice of you to do. I have a cousin over from Brazil and it's uh it's a cool opportunity to show them a little bit of what I do. No one really understands what I do, so this was one that I was like, you know what, I'm just gonna go as a fan with him and you were nice enough to get the
Yeah, and your cousin will be joining us for two hours on the show tomorrow. Uh in Portuguese. So uh for anyone tuning in no I'm kidding. Um but the thing that I learned about you, and this is a very nice thing to learn about you, you are a uh round up person in an e transfer. Because the tickets came out to whatever and thirty cents and you round it up to the nearest dollar. There can be there are two things that you can track when you do e transfers with friends. And one is are you a roundup person? And the other is like so anytime I get tickets for friends uh for a group, I'm always curious who's the last person to send it.
Oh yeah.
So this is a one a one person scenario. So I didn't find out that about you. Um, but you are a roundup person. So
I would have been the last person to send it though. If if it was a group thing. Well, yeah. What time was it when you got me the tickets? It was like one thirty PM and what time was it that I send you sent you the e transfer? It was like midnight. And I just I just forgot about it all day. Um I thought you were gonna mention because I you know, I knew this about you already, but your government name was in there and I was like, oh, that is pretty funny. Uh and I thought you were actually gonna talk about the fact that I have two last names and I have an a a really long government name.
No, I'm not going to dox you.
Oh, that's uh on the uh on
the show.
That's kind of you. It's just it's better than that. Just
revealing you're a number rounder upper in e transfers, which is a great thing to be. Uh okay, big show today. We're gonna talk to Robert Ford in a couple minutes. He's the radio play by play voice of the Astros. Dan Shulman will join us. Matt Gelb of the Athletics gonna join us. Uh great Phillies Mets game last night. The Phillies now eight games clear in the NL East, despite having half their infield on the IL and Bryce Harper now leading off because they keep running out of guys. Uh well Also talk to Ginny Searle of Baseball Perspectus. And we will, of course, get you set up for Astros Blue Jays, which will start tonight at 707 at Roger Center. And while this is not up online yet, the Blue Jays let us know yesterday.
Late at night. It's w probably the latest I can ever remember. The probables coming out. It's gonna be Shane Bieber against Luis Garcia. Tonight. Now, if it were on turn, it would have been Jose Burrios, Shane Bieber, and Kevin Gosman. Barrios and Bieber both pitching with two extra days of rest because of the paired off days. Instead, we get Shane Bieber on one extra day of rest and Jose Barrios on three extra days of rest on Wednesday. As we broke down yesterday, this does not do anything, at least yet, in terms of getting someone an extra start. There are 19 games left with only one off day from here. So everyone's gonna get four except that last person which lines up right now to be sure is a bastard who will get three.
There are thirteen games in thirteen days here. There's no chance to get someone extra rest. So this is either uh A about getting Barrios additional rest, B A very narrow scenario where you need Bieber available game one sixty two on short rest, which would be so risky coming out of TJ.
