That weekend did not go the Blue Jays' way in a lot of different ways. They dropped two of three to the Texas Rangers. They fall further back in the wild card. Even if the Blue Jays win out from here, we're talking about a 50 50 shot because that's how much help. They need over the course of this week. Every team has six games left. Uh, not only did the Jays drop two of three against the Texas Rangers, they watched Dylan Sease struggle to get out of the third inning and failed to do so with his velocity down even further. He was then sent for an MRI due to shoulder fatigue.
He is not going to start on Wednesday. And whether he starts on the weekend will depend on the results of that MRI and if those games against Cincinnati matter. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. came out of a game yesterday with lower back tightness, which John Schneider told reporters had he's been dealing with for a couple games again. Uh, this is obviously a season-long thing here between the back and the hamstring. Um, there was news on Friday that You know, the Buffalo Bisons wrapped their season yesterday. So the Blue Jays are going to have one of those stay ready groups in Buffalo. We saw last year. They came up and they played some intra squad games against the Blue Jays to help them stay ready for the playoffs.
That group probably doesn't need to lock in a long hotel stay, the uh the way things look right now. Um, because again, the Blue Jays enter this week three games out of a wild card spot. The Guardians have re-jumped the White Sox. So the White Sox are the team the Blue Jays are chasing and do not hold the tiebreaker against them. So they're four back of Cleveland with the tiebreaker, or three back of the White Sox without the tiebreaker. So either way, you got to catch up four games no matter who wins that division. Uh Texas. has passed Houston for the division by way of beating the Blue Jays twice. Uh it is a more clear wildcard picture now where Houston and the Jays are three games back and the Orioles are five games back.
Uh the Jays' magic number is three, by the way, so that means any combination of White Sox wins or Blue Jays losses that equals three will knock them out. Um So, yeah, that is a lot of a lot of not going in the right direction, on top of which Friday and Saturday's games were just uh, you know, a little on the nose about what has plagued the Blue Jays this year. You know, Dylan Sees has carried a lot for this Blue Jays team, but didn't have the command that day. The defense didn't pick them up behind that. Uh three combined errors. They didn't get much going at all offensively. So while they, yes, they didn't hit well with runners and scoring position, they didn't Didn't get uh many opportunities there either.
Saturday was a game where they couldn't take care take advantage of Cal Quantrill coming out of the game hurt in the second inning. The day after they had gotten Kamar Rocker out of the game fairly early. This is not an elite bullpen and you be got two pseudo bullpen days Friday, Saturday, and combined to score three runs over those two games. Uh all you really got was a Davis Schneider pinch hit home run. So Sunday, yeah, you won. The bullpen day looked good. Once again, Spencer Miles is unbelievable. Uh Spencer Argetti looked okay and you got seventeen base runners, which was uh more than you got in the first two games combined. But it felt a little Too little, too late. The Red Sox have locked up a playoff spot. The Yankees are all but locked into hosting them in the wild card. They could technically catch the Rays, but the Rays are gonna lock up that division at Yankee Stadium at some point this week. We will also talk to Kevin Brown.
