It seems like all the GMs took a late breakfast or an early lunch, because after a flurry when the trade start when the show started with Shane Bieber and uh coming to Toronto and Mason Miller going to San Diego, it has chilled just a little bit. Dennis Lynn of The Athletic, by the way, who covers the Padres for the Athletic and does a terrific job there, uh, reporting that. The Guardian's ask on Steven Kwan was Leo DeVries and more. Leo DeVries was the key piece in the Mason Miller trade. It was a four prospect trade for Mason Miller and JP Sears, but Leo DeVries is Ranked anywhere from the number three to number twenty-five best prospect in all of baseball.
So that ranks higher than anyone in the Blue Jay system. So if you are thinking about a Steven Kwan today, that is where the Guardians asking price reportedly started. Uh that would be a big haul. Yeah, it's uh it's exciting here too. Luckily for us, we can kind of not ignore like the Hellesley kind of stuff, but like, oh yeah, here's the Mason Miller trade. Uh back to Sarah Anthony Dominguez, back to uh Shane Bieber. Um look, so I know you're doing a lot of great work at Fangrafts. You wrote up a couple of the Yankees trades, you wrote up the Chris Paddock Tigers trade. Uh you're writing up the Ryan Hellesley to the Mets trade. Um I did want to ask you about the twins, though, because I know that's a team you keep uh pretty close. Eye on there. The return that they got for Joan Duran. Now, Duran is the best reliever. Uh argue pick take your pick between him and Mason Miller. I would take Duran uh forced to choose between them.
And he gets Eduardo Tate, who is a teenage catcher. And if he wasn't a teenage catcher, if he was a 22-year-old catcher who was a little closer to the majors, would probably be a top 20 prospect. There's just so much risk there. And they get Mick Abel, who's a pretty polarizing uh pitching process. What do you make of the return for Duran that that the twins were able to get from the Phillies.
Well, I I think the number one thing to keep in mind is that Duran is not a rental. I mean, he's got two and a half years left. So this is a major piece who who is going to be good for a while. And so I I get that Ketcher is a position uh of organizational need for the twins, but It's it's hard to see. You know, this isn't just they had a lot of rentals, you know, everyone assumes that Bader will be moved by the end of the day. Um, but th this is something different. And so I I think for twins fans it's a it's a little harder to swallow, you know, if if they move Joe Ryan, which makes more sense now after uh losing Duran. It's not like the bullpen is is flushed with depth that they have somebody to It's

Right. I mean, it's it's hard to know. I I think we need to keep in mind that Derek Falvey has uh also been uh uh not in charge of fully baseball operations for a while. That Levine stepped down who who was the GM uh last year and and and it was sort of uh Falvey was working more on the business side and now he's back to doing all of it. And so it's I I was a little skeptical the last time I came on. I said, you know, I think a lot would have to happen for the twins.
