Well, Jesse, quite the game for the Blue Jays today. They trailed 1-0 early, 4-2 midway through this game. But not only do they stage a big comeback, the Blue Jays absolutely explode for eight runs in the eighth inning on their way to an 11-4 victory. The most runs they've scored in a single game this year, they blast four. Four home runs today. Dylan sees with his longest outing of the year.
The fewest walks by him this season as well. Everything was clicking for the team today, especially late. They ensure a series split in Minneapolis. Jay's now 16 and 17 on the season, and they will aim with Trey Savage on the mound tomorrow for a series win.
Chapter 2: How did Kazuma Okamoto contribute to the Blue Jays' success?
Well, it's really, really nice to see the offense coming around like that. It's been a slow start to the season, obviously, and it's funny in a 162-game season how there are so many times where you focus in on different elements of of a baseball team. You focus on the pitching when it's not going well. You focus on the offense when it's not going well. Sometimes the defense lets you down.
And there was a pretty good chunk of April where the offense just wasn't humming along. And it's almost like it's coincided with the emergence of Kazuma Okamoto. that suddenly the offense looks that much scarier. And we saw a lot last year where one or two guys in the lineup would really kick it up a notch, and it would have this trickle-down effect throughout the rest of the lineup.
So you see again today, Okamoto has a monster home run, which we'll talk about a little bit later, just how effortless his power seems. But then you get into the mild straws of the Davis Schneider, Brandon Valenzuela with an absolute missile of his own. And that's the type of thing that you saw a lot last year. One guy steps up and everybody else follows through.
And you're starting to see it more and more regularly with this team.
Chapter 3: What role did Myles Straw play in the game?
And boy, are they looking dangerous when they have that many contributions up and down the lineup? It's a very reminiscent win of the 2025 season.

But to have Okamoto behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. now, having the damage that his bat can cause is so massive for this team, and it's just beautiful to see. Because this is what fans do, and this is what people who love a baseball team and love a sports team do.
They jump to conclusions very quickly, and when it was not going well for Okamoto after the first series, When he had that home run in the first series of the season, people were like, well, it might not happen with him. And we've seen that now. That is not true. The guy could play.
Yeah, I think that's why we often say... to make true evaluations of players, you're talking about... Look, I'm not exaggerating when I say this. You're talking about hundreds of ABs, right? So I think it's also fair to say that maybe this is also... This hot a player is also likely not what he's going to be long-term.
But I do think that he's probably closer to this than it was in that stretch where he was really in between, right?

Chapter 6: How did Dylan Cease perform in this game?
So, yeah, phenomenal stuff from Cosimo Okamoto. A 453-foot bomb, 112 miles an hour off the bat.
But it didn't even look like he... crushed it. It really didn't. That's the thing. It's like, it's just unbelievable. It's like a bat has an extra juice on it. Like maybe it's those bats, the torpedo bats, the Yankees were using last year. Maybe he's got one that we're just not aware of. Cause there's something there where it just pings right off the bat and flies.
It looks like a, not a lazy fly out, but it looks like it might get out. And then you're looking at the second deck at target field. Like how did that happen? It's just amazing to watch.
The home run at the time he hit it, and again, I haven't seen if other longer home runs have been hit in the last couple of hours or anything, but at the time he hit it, it was a top 10 home run in terms of distance in Major League Baseball. This season overall would slot in as the 8th Farthest home run hit this season by any individual major league baseball player, which is incredible stuff.

I think I would be okay with going with a variety of people. And listen, Barker a couple nights ago did go with the entire team as the player of the game. But if you want to go one way, Jesse, I will leave it up to you. Who are you picking for the player of the game?
Well, it feels like I could definitely go Okamoto because of how high I've been speaking about him today. But I'm going to go with Myles Straw because I think the home run that he had early, along with Lenny and Sosa's home run in the second inning, really set the tone. Two runs scored in this game. He has the home run, and he draws two walks as well, which is not always his calling card.
But I think for this team, we've seen over the years getting on base is so vital and so important. And Vlade can't be the only guy that's always getting on base. But Myles Straw, in addition to the home run, which is welcome from him because he's not a home run hitter, only his second of the season, but to get on base, twice other than the home run, I think was also huge.
So a multitude of guys you can give it to, but for me, it's the right fielder today.
I like it. One for two for straw with a pair of walks. He had the two RBI as well. Of course he had a basis loaded walk and the home run in there and he scored a pair of runs as well. So yeah, you know what? That's a great choice.
