02 May 2026

Transcription

Chapter 1: What happened in the Blue Jays' game against the Twins?

6.089 - 32.397 Unknown

Well, Jesse, quite the game for the Blue Jays today. They trailed 1-0 early, 4-2 midway through this game. But not only do they stage a big comeback, the Blue Jays absolutely explode for eight runs in the eighth inning on their way to an 11-4 victory. The most runs they've scored in a single game this year, they blast four. Four home runs today. Dylan sees with his longest outing of the year.

0

32.437 - 47.25 Unknown

The fewest walks by him this season as well. Everything was clicking for the team today, especially late. They ensure a series split in Minneapolis. Jay's now 16 and 17 on the season, and they will aim with Trey Savage on the mound tomorrow for a series win.

0

Chapter 2: How did Kazuma Okamoto contribute to the Blue Jays' success?

47.669 - 69.203 Jesse Rubinoff

Well, it's really, really nice to see the offense coming around like that. It's been a slow start to the season, obviously, and it's funny in a 162-game season how there are so many times where you focus in on different elements of of a baseball team. You focus on the pitching when it's not going well. You focus on the offense when it's not going well. Sometimes the defense lets you down.

0

69.243 - 90.621 Jesse Rubinoff

And there was a pretty good chunk of April where the offense just wasn't humming along. And it's almost like it's coincided with the emergence of Kazuma Okamoto. that suddenly the offense looks that much scarier. And we saw a lot last year where one or two guys in the lineup would really kick it up a notch, and it would have this trickle-down effect throughout the rest of the lineup.

0

90.641 - 114.018 Jesse Rubinoff

So you see again today, Okamoto has a monster home run, which we'll talk about a little bit later, just how effortless his power seems. But then you get into the mild straws of the Davis Schneider, Brandon Valenzuela with an absolute missile of his own. And that's the type of thing that you saw a lot last year. One guy steps up and everybody else follows through.

0

114.198 - 116.822 Jesse Rubinoff

And you're starting to see it more and more regularly with this team.

0

Chapter 3: What role did Myles Straw play in the game?

117.363 - 125.635 Jesse Rubinoff

And boy, are they looking dangerous when they have that many contributions up and down the lineup? It's a very reminiscent win of the 2025 season.

0

125.665 - 147.735 Unknown

Chapter 4: Who were the standout players in the eighth inning explosion?

148.256 - 169.327 Unknown

Standard data and messaging rates may apply. Yeah. I mean, everyone, everyone probably had that pregame quesadilla today, Jesse. I'll tell you what, when they, when the team comes back home next week, so they're going to finish off the series in a target field in Minnesota tomorrow. You savage Joe Ryan, the pitching matchup should be a lot of fun. And then they play the raise the trop.

0

169.447 - 183.029 Unknown

There's a day off on Thursday, then come back home on Friday and, If they don't have quesadillas in the press box as the press box meal at some point this season, it doesn't have to be right when they come back, but I do feel like that will be a missed opportunity.

0

183.049 - 204.711 Jesse Rubinoff

Honestly, I hope I'm there for that game because I would love to have it. This guy is just... you're starting to see everything, every reason why the Blue Jays were so high on him and gave them the contract. For Okamoto. Yeah, definitely. It's got to be all quesadillas for Riara. He's just... Because not only is it the home run, but it's also the base hit that ties the game

0

Chapter 5: What impact did George Springer's injury have on the game?

204.691 - 227.695 Jesse Rubinoff

two innings later right in the eighth inning so he's he's getting more and more comfortable and chris was talking about it chris larue was talking about it on the broadcast how the average for so long was right around the mendoza line this season and you're up to 235 for okamoto and suddenly it looks like a much bigger threat and a guy who even when barger comes back now and obviously uh

0

227.675 - 248.638 Jesse Rubinoff

Terrible for George Springer to go down, and we'll talk about that too. But to have Okamoto behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. now, having the damage that his bat can cause is so massive for this team, and it's just beautiful to see. Because this is what fans do, and this is what people who love a baseball team and love a sports team do.

0

249.038 - 264.45 Jesse Rubinoff

They jump to conclusions very quickly, and when it was not going well for Okamoto after the first series, When he had that home run in the first series of the season, people were like, well, it might not happen with him. And we've seen that now. That is not true. The guy could play.

0

264.671 - 281.176 Unknown

Yeah, I think that's why we often say... to make true evaluations of players, you're talking about... Look, I'm not exaggerating when I say this. You're talking about hundreds of ABs, right? So I think it's also fair to say that maybe this is also... This hot a player is also likely not what he's going to be long-term.

0

281.336 - 286.523 Unknown

But I do think that he's probably closer to this than it was in that stretch where he was really in between, right?

Chapter 6: How did Dylan Cease perform in this game?

286.583 - 295.956 Unknown

So, yeah, phenomenal stuff from Cosimo Okamoto. A 453-foot bomb, 112 miles an hour off the bat.

0

295.976 - 314.143 Jesse Rubinoff

But it didn't even look like he... crushed it. It really didn't. That's the thing. It's like, it's just unbelievable. It's like a bat has an extra juice on it. Like maybe it's those bats, the torpedo bats, the Yankees were using last year. Maybe he's got one that we're just not aware of. Cause there's something there where it just pings right off the bat and flies.

0

314.183 - 323.376 Jesse Rubinoff

It looks like a, not a lazy fly out, but it looks like it might get out. And then you're looking at the second deck at target field. Like how did that happen? It's just amazing to watch.

0

323.491 - 345.379 Unknown

The home run at the time he hit it, and again, I haven't seen if other longer home runs have been hit in the last couple of hours or anything, but at the time he hit it, it was a top 10 home run in terms of distance in Major League Baseball. This season overall would slot in as the 8th Farthest home run hit this season by any individual major league baseball player, which is incredible stuff.

0

345.539 - 356.923 Unknown

Before we continue, let's get to the player of the game brought to you by Capital One. Capital One giving credit to over 4 million Canadians and counting in a game like this.

Chapter 7: What are the implications of Alejandro Kirk's eventual return?

356.903 - 371.423 Unknown

I think I would be okay with going with a variety of people. And listen, Barker a couple nights ago did go with the entire team as the player of the game. But if you want to go one way, Jesse, I will leave it up to you. Who are you picking for the player of the game?

0

371.443 - 395.469 Jesse Rubinoff

Well, it feels like I could definitely go Okamoto because of how high I've been speaking about him today. But I'm going to go with Myles Straw because I think the home run that he had early, along with Lenny and Sosa's home run in the second inning, really set the tone. Two runs scored in this game. He has the home run, and he draws two walks as well, which is not always his calling card.

0

395.97 - 416.25 Jesse Rubinoff

But I think for this team, we've seen over the years getting on base is so vital and so important. And Vlade can't be the only guy that's always getting on base. But Myles Straw, in addition to the home run, which is welcome from him because he's not a home run hitter, only his second of the season, but to get on base, twice other than the home run, I think was also huge.

0

416.29 - 421.018 Jesse Rubinoff

So a multitude of guys you can give it to, but for me, it's the right fielder today.

0

421.178 - 433.878 Unknown

I like it. One for two for straw with a pair of walks. He had the two RBI as well. Of course he had a basis loaded walk and the home run in there and he scored a pair of runs as well. So yeah, you know what? That's a great choice.

Chapter 8: What are the upcoming challenges for the Blue Jays?

433.959 - 453.005 Unknown

Miles straw for the player of the game. Again, brought to you by capital one. All right, 416-870-0590, 1-888-666-0590, star 590 on your cell. Let's kick off today's Jace Talk with Eddie Infortieri joining us here on Jace Talk. Eddie, what's up today?

0

454.787 - 462.498 Eddie Infortieri

Not much, guys. How's it going today? Good, how are you? I'm doing good, and all this talk about kisses is making me hungry.

0

462.518 - 462.898 Unknown

I know.

0

463.756 - 470.002 Eddie Infortieri

I mean, I like all kinds of quesadillas. I like it with chicken and steak. I'm with you.

0

470.022 - 472.424 Unknown

Some queso, maybe, you know?

472.444 - 493.003 Eddie Infortieri

Oh, definitely. You're speaking my language, man. Now, I want to talk about Okamoto. He is on a tear, you guys. I mean, I don't know what you can say. They can't even throw a beach ball by him right now in his last several games. I mean, he had a great series against the Guardians last weekend.

493.186 - 516.125 Eddie Infortieri

had a great game against, um, the, uh, the Red Sox on Wednesday and, and this power that he's been bringing to the other twin cities is unbelievable. And every time that he's up there, I, it's like must see TV. Like I am just enjoying every at bat that he's doing right now. And you know what, when everything's falling your way, you can have a little help from the mound too.

516.205 - 529.101 Eddie Infortieri

And he tied it up on that RBI single. And, um, I'm just very happy with the win. Hopefully, the Savage will win the series tomorrow. Oh, yeah.

529.121 - 547.307 Unknown

Eddie, I appreciate the call. Thanks for joining us. I'm excited to do the Savage game tomorrow with you, Jesse. We'll do pre and post tomorrow as well. We haven't had a chance, really, to talk about Trey Savage at all this season. He only had the one start, and Blair did that one. Looking forward to it, no question. On Okamoto, just a little more on him.
