Not forgotten, but we haven't talked enough about Jalen Brunson and how great he is. And when you have him, you can just do about anything. And he is someone that I trust once they go into the playoffs. And maybe he puts the whole team and Carl Anthony Towns on his back and wins an NBA title like he did last night in winning this game in double overtime. NBA trade deadline, 3 o'clock today.

And that game last night was amazing. It was absolutely an amazing game. And Jalen Brunson, once again, shows you why the Knicks thought so highly of him a few years back when they got him from Dallas. You know, the thing I would say now as we head into the trade deadline, where is Giannis going to go? Is Giannis going to go? The Warriors have pulled out of the Giannis sweepstakes.
They did acquire Porzingis, who may now win another championship. Well, you know... Warriors are trying, but they've got a lot of really good teams in the West there. They do, but they ended up making a couple trades.
Now it seems like if there is going to be a trade, from everything that you've read, everything that I've read, everything we hear from Shams and every other NBA insider, I would say that Minnesota is likely, if they're going to get something done before this afternoon,
Yeah, so they're the team that seems to be the most aggressive right now because they know that they can give a better package than some of the teams like the Knicks and Miami can give right now as opposed to at the end of the year where more assets are allowed to be traded. It's all a funky thing when it comes to the NBA.

This is it. Like nothing's happening. Unless they make another minor trade for some bench person or player or whatever. I'm not really sure. But it looks like and it feels like that this is the team. And by virtue of the fact that they've won eight games in a row now, they played well. They got Detroit now on Friday night. Detroit's playing tonight. So Detroit will be coming off of a back-to-back.
The Knicks obviously in double overtime last night off of a back-to-back. That would be a real good test for the Knicks to see where they are and how close they are to the Detroit Pistons. But it really does feel like this is the team. Now, you've got to wonder. They've heard about all the noise around them. They obviously read and they see social media.
So you would think that guys like Bridges and Ananobi and Carl Anthony Towns have been reading the last two and a half weeks about how they could be part of a trade package going somewhere else. And they reacted in kind by going on this eight-game winning streak, which was really amazing. And it's a real testament to them. Yeah, and I do think there is a connection there.
And I don't know what the organization is telling these guys, but there's no doubt that they're saying, oh, there's no way you're going to be getting traded because that would just be a silly thing to do because you never know what offers are out there. But I do think there's a correlation between a team that knows that the playoffs are all that they're going to be judged on.
They went deep into the playoffs last year. They're planning on going deep into the playoffs this year. They know they're going to make the playoffs. So what are those things that get you motivated in this long period

regular season in the dog days of winter. I guess the NBA Cup was one of those things. And now seeing your names all over the internet in trade rumors and not wanting to be traded and wanting to be a part of this thing would be another thing that would motivate you. It almost feels like we talk about winning championships with Aaron Judge and his prime and stuff like that.
I'm starting to feel like that with Jalen Brunson. The play that we are getting out of this guy right now is the absolute top of his game. And you just don't want to waste these years. Well, you also want to make sure all of his teammates stay healthy when they get into the playoffs, which is always the most important thing. You got to have a little luck, man.
You got to have a little luck to get through, you know, the gauntlet that is the NBA playoffs and the rest of the season for that matter. And I just hope they don't fall off now. You know, you just hope and pray that, you know, this team stays locked in. This reminds me of when they first traded for OG Ananobi and they went on that run and then Julius Randle got hurt.
You know, I just, to me, it's like, all right, this is the best that we've seen this group play. And last night, Josh Hart wasn't even on the court. Yeah, which I thought was going to be a big problem for them. But, yeah, I mean, exactly. What I don't want to see is this trade deadline come and go and then this team exhale and then all of a sudden start mailing in it again.
But how about Carl Anthony Towns? I said we all knew how tough he was.

Chapter 4: How did Carl Anthony Towns demonstrate toughness during the game?
You know, we've all been talking about. Took a shot to the eyebrow. Right. We've been talking about the toughness of Carl Anthony Towns. This guy fights through everything, you know? And there's blood all over the guy. And he's out. He gets the stitches. He comes back. He does foul out of the game. But at least he didn't go into the locker room and never come back.
The thing that you're saying, fouling out of the game. That's the thing you don't want to see when we get to the playoffs. We don't want to see stuff like that. But I think he got a little annoyed last night. And good for that. Good for him. He had a little kickback to him last night.
Which is nice.
But again, you're also playing against one of the better teams. So it gives you a real sense of, all right, this is what it's going to be like. And that was almost like a playoff game last night. Well, yeah, I mean, and that's what I mentioned right away.
I mean, I'd sign up for a seven-game series between those two in the NBA Finals right now, obviously, because that means the Knicks would be in the Finals. But that's not completely out of the question.
I know the Oklahoma City Thunder are a great team and the Pistons are a great team, but just a couple years ago, the Nuggets themselves were the champions and Mike Malone was out there cursing and drunk, and now he's not there any longer, but this team is back and Jokic is still as great as he's ever been. And that right there is a, you know, we always talk about,
potential super bowl matchups when we see two nfl teams that are really good play in the regular season i mean that right there felt like the nba finals matchup preview that's what it felt like you know when i watch all these teams make all these trades and i think about like the utah jazz for a second that reminds me of when the knicks made the trade for carmel anthony no let's let's get rid of like five guys and bring one guy in yeah and let's see if we can build around that guy and move forward with him
It's just, it's amazing the amount of movement. And this has been a good trade deadline in the sense that if you are an NBA fan, big names are moving, guys are moving all over the place. And except for like the Knicks are holding, they're holding fast. And I think they did the right thing by getting rid of Yabba Sealy because now they have salary cap, assuming they don't have anybody else.
They'll have salary cap room next year, a little bit more salary cap room. It was interesting. They didn't have to take back any money. Yeah, which is good for flexibility. And they got a guy that's on the last year of his deal. Yeah, perfect expiring contract situation to give you that room as you head into the offseason. But the Cavaliers, to me, have gotten worse at the trade deadline.

And then also, you know, the Pistons still hold a grudge against the Knicks for knocking them out of the playoffs last year. You got back-to-back for the Knicks, day off, double overtime, flying out there. It feels like a squash spot. Squash spot? That's what it feels like a little bit. Don't feel like a squash spot. It feels like that a little bit, but we will see.
Their next few games, you're going to find out a little bit more about the Knicks because they've got the Pistons, the Celtics. Pacers, don't worry about them too much. You've got the 76ers after that. Then you've got the All-Star break, and then coming out of the All-Star break, you've got the Pistons at home. And the Rockets. So there you go. And the Cavaliers.
I mean, when you take a look at the schedule for the next seven or eight games, that's a pretty good test as to who they are. So they're going in with an eight-game winning streak. They have four games now before the All-Star break. Can they go 3-1 in those four games? Yeah, I mean, sure. For me, of course, get the better seed, but this team, to me, doesn't have to have...
Home court advantage everywhere. I think that they can win. Sometimes it works against them. Yeah, I agree. But it just shows you how good Detroit's been playing. I mean, the Knicks have won eight games in a row, and they're still five games behind the Detroit Pistons because they just don't lose a lot. And they're on a three-game winning streak of themselves.
So I'm not really concerned about... It's not like getting into the playoffs, you're desperate to have the one seed or any of that. Just... You're going to have to play the best teams eventually in the playoffs, and the Knicks know that. So just stay healthy, keep winning, and just don't, because the trade deadline goes away, just lose all your mojo.
Which, if we're saying that they've been inspired with their names being in trade talks, then that implies that maybe they take their foot off the gas pedal a little bit when they know they're not going anywhere. It would be interesting to see if they try to make one more move here before the trade deadline hits at 3 o'clock today.
Yeah, and it will be minor, as you mentioned, if anything, unless there's a shocker out there, and there was yesterday. I mean, Anthony Davis going to the Wizards? I mean, what are they doing? It's like the Wizards are trying to build with all these disgruntled or these players that have fallen out of favor with their teams. Well, yeah, I mean, and it's not like... They're for next year.

He traded him to the Raptors. Yeah, I mean. You know, I don't know. What is that? I guess just a money dump? That's the thing I don't understand. The NBA is so convoluted, it's hard to keep track of all this. It truly is impossible at times to understand it.
That's why when I talk about these things, I try not to get too much into the draft pick swaps and this rule, and you can trade odd and even-numbered picks. The apron. The apron. You just try to break it down in a way of, all right, these are the guys who would go, and these are the guys that would come back, and this team would be better or worse because of this.
Yeah, I mean, when you say it feels like the team, last night felt like the team. And led by their captain and their best player in Jalen Brunson. And if they're going to win a championship, he's got to be what he was last night. And I'm not talking like the isolation ball and it's only him type of stuff. But in these clutch moments. Did you see the pass to Shaman at the end? Yeah, of course.
That's the kind of stuff that he can do and he's capable of doing. But when he's feeling it, he's feeling it.
Yeah, I mean, I really like the sort of game arc or story arc of the game where Jamal Murray comes out, and it's one of these things where he's like, listen, I'm a superstar on this team, and he scores 20 points in the first quarter, and he's going to have his garden moment, you know, because they don't come here a lot.
And then Jalen Brunson's basically saying, like, all right, that was cute, but I'm going to win this game, and you're going to go home, and you're not going to be happy, and I'm the man. And Murray had a shot there at the end of – what was it, first overtime?

I mean, when – and I was wrong about him because with all the injuries and him not being available at key times, I was ready to move on from him. That's how important he is to what this group does. Because they don't have so many. OG Ananobi, he's a shutdown defender. But, I mean, outside of that. Josh Hart plays defense. He plays defense, but. Gets defensive rebounds.
There's nobody that does what Mitch does. Well, I mean, because of his size and his length. Exactly, yeah. He's a rim protector. You know that. Rim protection. You know that.
