Hour 2 - Harbaugh Sweepstakes Continue, Jets Bad Rep, Al Michaels Coming Back To Amazon

Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
It's the Boomer and Geo podcast from WFAN. Hi, Boomer and Geo coming to you live from the Bill Ford Tough studio on the fan and CBS Sports Network. On Friday, I felt like the John Harbaugh to the Dolphins thing was a done deal. It felt like Stephen Ross was clearing the deck to go out and...
get John Harbaugh and that they had a GM opening and we had made the connection as many of the NFL insiders had that there was a general manager candidate out in LA as a member of the Chargers organization working with Jim who had ties to John who was going to go be the GM because he had interviewed with Miami and then all of a sudden bang you're going to have this huge salary given to John Harbaugh those two guys are going to work together and he's going to go to Miami in a no state income
Well, things changed over the weekend because that guy who was linked to the Harbaughs did not take that job. A member of the Green Bay Packers organization took that GM job down in Miami and started to cool off some of that conversation. Then there were other reports about how John Harbaugh really likes Jackson Dart.
He's been studying tape of Cam Ward and Jackson Dart, and still the Giants are...
Chapter 2: What recent developments are there in the John Harbaugh coaching situation?
right at the top of that list. Now, Ian O'Connor is someone that we have gone to many times to see what he is saying because he is someone who is very plugged in and he's going to be a guy that's going to have these things right. So he writes this on X 14 hours ago. As the Giants prepare to close on John Harbaugh in the coming days,
For Giants fans wanting to learn who he is, where he came from, and what makes him tick, I visited his home in 2016, and he wouldn't start the interview until he routed me in some competition. And he links an article that he wrote in 2016 about John Harbaugh. But for him to put out... as the Giants prepare to close on John Harbaugh. To me, it says a lot about what's going on here.
I mean, and then he followed that up with, nothing has changed in the five days since I wrote below, but when John Harbaugh was fired after studying film time, I told Harbaugh, still has high regard for the Giants and their job, and their QB. We'll see about Green Bay, but either way, this should be a fascinating week. So basically, if Matt LaFleur gets fired, then you got to worry about that.
If Nick Sirianni gets fired, I guess you got to worry about that. But if either one of those guys stay, it does feel like the Giants again. Yeah. You know, the other thing, too, is I do believe that I think it's John Eric Sullivan was the GM of the Dolphins now. Yes. He's the guy who came from Green Bay. Right. I believe he has the same agent as John Harbaugh. Okay.
Well, I mean, a lot of guys have the same agent. I know a lot of guys do have the same agents. A lot of guys. The agents control a lot of this, too, by the way. They are definitely involved. But, yeah, I would say I feel better this morning than I did Friday. Yeah. Without question, especially if Matt LaFleur comes loose.
Yeah, and then people are making the connection to LeFleur, to the Falcons, if that's a possibility. I mean, at this point... There's going to be – there's at least John Harbaugh, Kevin Stefanski, and Mike McCarthy if you're looking for someone who's got experience.
There might be – I mean, Nick Sirianni's not going to take the Giants job, but there might be Nick Sirianni, Matt LaFleur, Kevin Stefanski, John Harbaugh, and Mike McCarthy available. It's crazy. It's crazy how many – there'd be a quarter of the teams changing their head coaches. And I just don't know how you –
think you can get better than matt lafleur and green bay i know they they've gotten stuck and they've lost games at the end of the at the end of games here they've blown leads um you know they had some injuries just like everybody else does but i what what does he do wrong as a coach is like what what i want what i would want to know lose to the Bears in embarrassing fashion in the playoffs.
I mean, that's what everybody's going to say. And when you say, how can you do better? I mean, I think that people will say, if John Harbaugh weren't available, then you're sticking with him, but he's available and you feel like you can get him, then maybe you go out there and you hire him if he wants that job. And I know that the Miami Dolphins have reached out to John Harbaugh.

Chapter 3: How do the Jets' current challenges affect their coaching prospects?
The season's on the line, and you've got to make sure everybody's totally locked in. And it didn't matter anyway because the 49ers, boy, I'll tell you what, give Rob Sala a lot of credit. I mean, he doesn't blitz a lot, but when he blitzed yesterday, they got after Jalen Hurts. They really did.
I mean, isn't it amazing how Rob Sala was that guy you saw yesterday on the field, yelling, screaming, going crazy, you know, just looks the part of a head coach. He comes here. All of his personality gets sucked out of him. He seems like a doofus and then goes back there and then the same thing happens. He looks like this guy who's unstoppable. You know what he was?
He was the opposite of Aaron Glenn. Meaning that he tried to talk to people. He tried to be nice in front of the media. I think initially he won the media over with the way that he would explain things and be available. And then he got into it with Joe Beningo and Joe Beningo let it out. And then all of a sudden all hell breaks loose. And now Aaron Glenn's the opposite of that.
Aaron Glenn, he ain't giving anybody anything. He's got this whole thing on lockdown. He's trying to be aggressive as a leader, trying to set the path. I think he backed away from that the last four or five weeks of the season, though. He did. He did. I mean, he felt like someone got to him, like, this doesn't look great. But we'll see what he ends up doing next year.
But I just go back to training. They were so close with Sala and Douglas. They were really close. And then that Achilles snaps.
Yeah.
I mean, to think about what we were saying about – I mean, I said going into that first year before Aaron Rodgers' injury that it was AFC Championship. That's where I expected them to be. I expected the Jets to be in the AFC Championship game. And to think about that's just a few years ago, and here we are now where I can't imagine them winning more than four games next year.
Did you see George Kittle's blown Achilles yesterday? It looked exactly like Aaron Rodgers. You can see where – The ripple effect going up into the calf. Yeah. And he asked Jed York, he goes, Jed York came down to see him. Are you okay? How are you doing? Is there anything we can do for you? He goes, yeah, I need a bottle of tequila.
Ten minutes later, a bottle of tequila was in the locker room. Well, of course. I mean, that guy is – he's one of the main reasons why they've been so successful and a great team and togetherness. And he's just – he's a leader and a personality. And he's just – yeah. I mean, that's just another one of those just horrible injuries that the – that the 49ers had to withstand.

Chapter 4: What insights can be drawn from the Niners' victory over the Eagles?
Oh, boy. Aye, aye, aye. If you're yelling about Jalen Hurts today, then you're an idiot. All right, so that's it. I guess directed a spike. That's all he does. Spike Eskin out there at IP. It's all he does. Yell about Jalen Hurts. Well, he's also not happy with the offensive coordinator. Kevin Petullo. He sucks! Yeah, not happy.
And he says the fourth down call, which we just played for you, was the issue. And he references someone else that believes the same thing. Jason Avant broke it down beautifully on the postgame. Your season's on the line.
It's fourth and 11. That's what you call!
That's what they called, and it went incomplete. Now, it's not just him. You heard the comment about Petullo. ABC7 caught up with a young Eagles fan walking out of the stadium.
And I also want Kevin Petullo flipping burgers at, like, the local McDonald's or something. I don't care. Why do you say that? Whenever he's an offensive coordinator, it's like he's flipping burgers. One side, he's cooking, and the other half is completely raw.
I know.
What?
Teach him young.
He's a kid, man.
