Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
It's the Boomer and Geo podcast from WFAN. Hi, Boomer and Geo coming to you live from the Bill Ford Tough Studio on the fan and CBS Sports Network. 888-808-1019 is the number to join the show. That's Red Pocket Mobile fan line brought to you by your new ultimate cell carrier, Red Pocket Mobile.
I have to say, it always changes what fan base is like the most sensitive or the most emotional or the most angry fan. And the Giants fans had definitely been there at one point. The Jets fans had been there, and the Knicks fans had been there.
But right now, I actually think, and the Yankees fans, right now, as we sit here today, I think that the Mets fan is the most emotional and sensitive and angry with everything that has gone on. I beg to differ. Well, all right, the Rangers, I know. Okay, fine. I don't get people sending me Rangers stuff. I do get all the other stuff.
So they get every – they have been pissed because things went terribly wrong at the end of the year. They were pissed because they got rid of their guys, Pete Alonzo, Brandon Nimmo, and not so much Jeff McNeil. And this David Stearns is coming in here, and he's got this small market mentality, and Steve Cohen only cares about the casino and blah, blah, blah. Well, hopefully a lot of that.
stops now that you have Bo Bichette in the fold, and now what happened last night with Luis Robert Jr. and Luis Angel Acuna going in that deal, who was ripping it up in the Winter Leagues, and I'm sure that his production in the Winter Leagues was able to help get this deal done and make this more attractive.
for the Chicago White Sox so yeah this is a this is a good one this is a guy who a couple years ago in 2023 had an amazing offensive year the last two years not so much but he is an elite defender there in center field and maybe him coming to a team that's in contention like the Mets should be in contention, wakes his ass up a little bit like some smelling salts.
So David Stearns, after getting roasted for weeks and weeks and weeks and Steve Cohen getting roasted, the fans have got to feel a hell of a lot better after these two moves. And obviously, there still could be more to come. There will be more to come. That's why I keep saying, can we wait until we get the pitchers and catchers to see what the roster looks like?
I mean, there's been a lot of screaming and yelling on this radio station for all the wrong reasons. Now, if you want to sit here and tell me the Yankees haven't done anything and they bring back Cody Bellinger, then maybe Yankee fans will subside a little bit.
But, I mean, there was no way that the Met roster, the way that it has been over the last three to four weeks, was going to be the roster that they were going to spring training with. It was just a matter of time before they were able to – figure out whether or not they could get Kyle Tucker. If they couldn't get Kyle Tucker, then they'll pivot to Bo Bichette.

Chapter 2: What are the Mets' recent trade details involving Luis Robert Jr.?
And the bullpen also is something that they're just having trust in, in this lineup with Aaron Judge still there. They're okay, but if they lose Bellinger, then they're going to be the ones that are freaking out. Well, the real question is, and I know Yankee fans are sitting out there thinking, we're still going to have Volpe at shortstop? Yeah, right now, yeah. You are.
That's going to be your guy unless there's a major trade made and another team wants to shed some salary and the Yankees are willing to add more salary, which doesn't seem to be the case, especially if they give Bellinger what he wants. So, you know, there are two general managers right now. Well, I would say there's – I'm going to say there's two coaches that are under –
extreme pressure right now in New York terms. One is Mike Brown of the Knicks, and the other one is Aaron Glenn of the Jets. Those are the two coaches that are under the most scrutiny, I would say, and most pressure at the moment. The general manager who is under the most scrutiny and under the most pressure right
with the biggest fan base was Joe Shane until they were able to hire John Harbaugh. Now that kind of stuff has dissipated because Harbaugh is going to be the adult in the room, you know, thinking from a giant fan's perspective. But there are two general managers right now that are completely under fire from their local fan bases that are intense and are pressurized.
One is Chris Drury of the Rangers. The other one is Tom Fitzgerald of the Devils. Now, you wouldn't understand that. Nobody would understand that unless you were a Devil fan. And there's Leon Rose. You got to throw in there now to the way that their team is playing and the trade deadline.
But I think I think people understand that Leon Rose was really the first the first piece in stabilizing a franchise that had gone wayward and it got flown off the tracks. And remember when he was hired, everybody was like, what? What are we doing now? Is this the next Phil Jackson coming in here?
And because of his intimate knowledge of players and his relationships throughout the NBA, he was able to build a playoff roster. And that playoff roster has given us a lot of great basketball over the last four years. But I would say now, right now, this decision of Mike Brown being the coach, if he has completely lost the team,
And could you imagine Jalen Brunson going in there with a players-only meeting saying, and I don't know if this is the case or not, I had meetings like this once where I walked in there and I said, guys, don't worry about the coach. He doesn't know what he's doing. We have to play better because we know what we're doing.
I don't know if that's what was said at that meeting yesterday, but if that's what was said, the Knicks don't have a shot. Yeah, it's hard to argue. Is it an effort issue? Is it a system issue? Is it a coaching issue? If it's an effort issue, that's scary for sure, but that's easier to fix if Jalen Brunson says the right things and figures it out.

Chapter 3: Why are Yankees fans feeling anxious during the offseason?
I'll let you know if I need to circle back. And I haven't heard from you since on it.
No, the Ecuador one I was good on. The Morocco one, I needed you, I think.
Oh, okay.
Just call the mayor's office. They got free tickets over there. Doesn't Francisco Lindor's wife work for the mayor now? I think she is on his transition team. He's transitioned in now. So I don't know if her responsibilities are over with or she's trying to take somebody's house away from them. I'm not sure. Yes, CeeLo, you were saying?
No, I'm just saying, we got to get cracking on that then. I thought you were good.
No, I think, yeah, I've got, I forget. I have it all written down, actually, of who offered what and where and everything.
All right, well, let's make sure we stay in touch on that.
You didn't lose that in the move or anything, did you? I did not, no. I did not. All right, CeeLo, what's going on, man?
Yeah, sponsored by Chef IQ, precision cooking, effortless results, chefiq.com. John Harbaugh spreading some love to his new quarterbacks yesterday, first day on the job with the Giants, and not just about Jackson Dart, though obviously that is the focal point.

Chapter 4: What are the implications of John Harbaugh's new era for the Giants?
Oh, he loves Jackson. So that's cool. I heard a lot of positive reviews from Kirk Cousins on the NFL today. A lot of people liked him. Oh, yeah? Okay. Yeah, well, he should be good, yeah. Although, you know, he did the same thing when we sat down at the Super Bowl. It was down in Miami and we had him on. It was right before COVID. He's very awkward in a chair.
Like, he's always, like, he's, like, leaning around like this. He's doing this thing. Well, that's up to Drew Kaliske to tell him to sit up straight in his ear. Sit up straight. I even asked him off the air because he was waiting. He's like... You all right? I was like, is that chair okay? Can we get you something else? And he's like, no, yeah, I'm fine. And then I see him on the NFL Today.
He's going, eh. You notice the weirdest things, man. No, you would have noticed it too, man. If you would have seen it, you would have noticed it.
It's like a nervous energy sitting in the chair.
Yeah, he doesn't know what to do while sitting. Right.
So someone's got to work on that with him. Like Ricky Bobby didn't know what to do with his hands. His hands, yeah. Right. Got it. Harbaugh also got a President Trump question during his press conference yesterday referencing the President's recent tweet where he talked about how the Giants should definitely hire him and vice versa.
It feels really great. And I'll tell you, I also noticed on that post that he said, John, take the job. So I thought that John Mayer might have something to do with that. I don't know. But it's cool, and it's sports. You know, it's sports. And everybody's excited. Everybody follows it.
Kind of downplayed the politics side of it. It's going to be huge.
Huge.

Chapter 5: How is Jalen Brunson trying to save the Knicks' season?
Otis Anderson was there. A lot of guys were there. I didn't hear Phil's name.
You got dignitaries hanging out?
Mm-hmm.
you know, that's a big spot for him.
It is, yes. Now, not as out of breath, but I think just as cringy in a press conference setting, this now Super Bowl winning head coach, the day he was introduced for his current job, this is one I will never forget.
Next thing that's very important to me is that we build a smart football team, that we have a smart football team here. And I know we have the people in place to do that. The first part of that, the first part of being smart is knowing what to do. We're going to have systems in place that are easier to learn.
Complicated to the defense or offense that they're going against or the special teams group they're going against, but easy for us to learn. Because when we can put that, when we can learn our system and we can get good at our system, then our talent can take over. Less thinking equals talent take over.
I mean, that day that Nick Sirianni was introduced and I saw that and I was like, this guy is screwed. And he's been to two Super Bowls and won a Super Bowl. Crazy.
Yeah, and meanwhile, every bad press conference we have here turns out being a terrible head coach, right?

Chapter 6: What challenges are the Knicks facing this season?
I forgot how bad that was.
Yeah, it was just freaky, man.
And the one with the taco. Oh, my God. What a disaster. No, you're right. But I'm saying even the ones where we're like, that guy sounded great. He won the press conference.
Joe Judge was one of those guys. That sucked. It's like Adam Gase must have drank a whole pot of coffee before that.
You think it was just coffee or something?
It could have been something else. It could have been that. What's the ADD medicine? Adderall? It could have been something. Who knows? Yeah.
Oh, man. That was crazy. Well, he always had that low-brim hat on. I think by design, because he's just got the big eyes. We weren't used to seeing him without a hat on.
It's not that the eyes were big. They just didn't stop moving.
Yeah. It's really uncomfortable when you go back and look at it.

Chapter 7: How did Joe Burrow make a rare return to social media?
Did we get a Rico Bronya on this thing?
You very well might have.
It's the only time we really get Rico Bronya is when it's something negative.
No, they do. I mean, there could be, you know, an apocalypse coming and Evan Hoffman would fire up the Ricobronia to break down, you know, the...
freaking uh before we all die here are my top five you know rule five draft candidates i mean they don't care okay certainly possible we did not get one yet we got a uh beau bichette one the other day but nothing he was so busy with john harbaugh i was gonna say he had well this happened last night too right when was this announced yeah pretty late i want to say i know it's kind of like the kyle tucker thing what is it with baseball why can't you just do it during the day so we can actually talk about it when it happens
It's a great question. Carlos Beltran's a Hall of Famer. There you go.
It's the Boomer and Geo podcast from WFAN. Hi, Boomer and Geo on the fan and CBS Sports Network. I know you were busy last night at a pretty cool event. I was, yeah. I went to the NHL Foundation event down here in Tribeca with my son-in-law, Matt. Nice. And I saw a lot of guys, Stephan Manteau, Brendan Shanahan, Glenn Healy, all those guys were there. And it was a great night.
And thanks to Gary Bettman for inviting me. They actually raised money for the Travis Roy Foundation, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which has always been a part, and, of course, the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation that have been a part of the NHL for a long, long time as hockey fans. And just watching Travis Roy's parents get up there and speak and
Travis, if you don't know, was a player at Boston University, and he got injured on his first ship back in 1995. And he was paralyzed from the neck down, and they decided to do a foundation much like our friend Mikey Nichols. Yeah. And unfortunately, Travis passed away in 2020, and the parents are still continuing this on. And they run tournaments in his honor.
