Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
It's the Boomer and Geo podcast from WFAN. 7.05 on the fan and CBS Sports Network. Learning to fly with Boomer Esiason and his former commercials back in the 80s. Kind of cool. Coming to you live from the Built Ford studio, 888-808-1019. I can't believe you haven't seen that. No, I had the Diet Coke commercial. I have not seen that. Yeah, I did a Diet Coke commercial with the Bears.
So it was me and the three Bears. Obviously. Right. And then I did another one where I'm melting in the field and other guys are melting. Like Charles Mann of the Redskins back in the day, he was melting and I was throwing them Diet Cokes. And that would resurrect them. Randall Cunningham was in that one as well. A bunch of guys were. Yeah, 80s. You've got quite the resume. Yeah.
You're quite the resume. You're only about 40 years away from that. Yeah, well, something like that. So we referenced the Aaron Glenn thing. Again, it is what it is. I mean, it's a bad look. That's all it is. The idea that someone shuts his eyes doesn't look great, but so be it. So the NFL grades came out. They've been leaked. They're put out by the NFLPA.
Now, to be clear, these were voted on by the players, I believe it was mid-November to mid-December. So it's not something that happened after the season. This was during the season. Now, some of the things that really stood out to me, I'm going to start with the head coach.
If I asked you right now what you thought the team grade for the head coach would be for the New York Jets, you would have said, what would the vote have gone? I would say since he's an ex-player and somebody that probably connects with the players pretty well, I'd say B. The Jets voted him an A. All right, so the players like him, the players seem to like him, yes.
Now, a lot of the coaches got A's, to be fair. Mike Tomlin got an A. I think there was only one A-plus. You want to take a guess? Ben Johnson. No. All right. Andy Reid. Dan Quinn. Dan Quinn got an A-plus. Dan Quinn got an A-plus in Washington. Here are the ones that really shocked me. Sean Payton. He could be a pain in the ass. Yeah, he had a B. Yeah, yeah.
This is why Denver Broncos went out and got him, is because he's a no-nonsense guy.

Chapter 2: What are the latest NFLPA team grades and standout performances?
He's a Parcells guy. I understand. No, I get it, but they had so much success last year, and I know that this vote was given, their survey was done November, December. They were in the middle of a huge run at that point. And he's grinding his team, yeah, 100%. Yeah, I guess. That surprised me. Anybody get a failing rate? No, not a failing grade. Here are the worst ones I found.
Could I have missed one? Absolutely, but I don't think I did. The worst coach grades I saw, Cleveland, C-, and this one surprised me. Jim Harbaugh, C+. I actually expected that to be an A. Wow. Again, since this is furnished from the NFLPA, did they tell you how many players participated in the... Yes, the amount. That was in the other article. I think it was 1,500 I saw.
So almost all the players. 1,780.
Yeah, all right. Wow. So almost all the players participated. So that would tell me that the LA Chargers, their entire team participated in it. Or at least 90% of the team. And the idea that Jim Harbaugh, I feel like he was lauded out there. That, to me, was almost shocking, actually. Now, here are a couple that popped off the page that I found hilarious.
But not surprising, given the last 18 years listening to him. A couple of teams didn't do so good in terms of ownership. Yeah, Arizona and Cincinnati.

Chapter 3: How did the New York Jets' head coach fare in player evaluations?
F and D+. Yeah. I thought that was funny. Here are a couple of surprising ones. What do you think Kansas City ownership got? I'd probably get a C. C plus. Yeah. How would you not think that ownership in Kansas City wouldn't have gotten an A?
A lot of this has to do with the facilities that you have, how you travel, what hotels you stay in, are you required to do a team meal together, or are you allowed to go out, that kind of thing. And if you do go out, do you get a... you know, a healthy stipend to be able to go out and go to dinner, that kind of thing. You know, so I'll get back to the ownership one in a second.
I didn't even see this at first. How about this? Treatment of families. That's a big thing now these days. It never was a big thing back in the day, but it has certainly become a big thing. And I will say this, Sydney, the only group I know that actually uses a family with a team, says the Islanders do the family thing about as well as anybody could ever do it. I don't mean to laugh. Yeah.
But these are you related again? Yeah. The Cardinals treatment of families, D plus. Are you ready for the Bengals one? F. F minus. It's because it's money that they don't want to spend the money on it or something. Or they just don't understand. They can tend to be clueless.
You got to remember, so the whole Ring of Honor thing that we've talked about here many years, the Bengals just got started. So what are they, five or six years into it? They've been around since 1969, and it took until 2020 or 2021 to get it going. Yeah. All right. So it's just things that they don't feel like that they have to spend money on.
Well, all right, so I want to be fair to the Bengals because their locker room, their training room, their training staff, weight room, strength coaches, all A's. Offensive coordinator, A. Defensive coordinator, B+. There's good stuff in here. But treatment of families, F-, home game field, D-, food and dining area, F-, nutritionist, F. Yeah, I'm not shocked. And team ownership, D+.
You know where we used to have our pregame meal on Sunday mornings if we had a game at home on Sunday? The Spaghetti Factory.

Chapter 4: What were the surprising NFL coach ratings released?
Okay, I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. And you practiced under the stupid overpass. Yeah, we had an overpass, and when it rained and it got too bad, we had to walk through underneath the overpass. Holy cow. All right, a couple of others on ownership that I found very interesting. What do you think... Woody Johnson got from the Jets.
Well, I think about much better this year than last year because last year was so like earth shattering around here and it got so much publicity that I'm sure Woody went to great lengths to try to fix that. So I would think that his grade probably is up to a B. Yeah, it's exactly right. He got a B. I did not write the Giant one down. Hold on.
Let me just give you the Giant one here in terms of ownership. I would think good. So the Giant's got a B as well. So they're right there. Here's one that shocked me. Pittsburgh. Ownership. C. D minus. Yeah, so they run the team in Pittsburgh just like the Bengals run the team in Cincinnati. They're both things. Interesting. are, you know, they're carbon copies of each other. Okay. Fine.
It's just that the Steelers have a longer success, more success, and more Super Bowls, obviously, because the Bengals don't have any. More success and also reputation. I would have thought, again, we're outside looking and we're not in the building, so this is coming from the players, fair enough.
I just would have thought that the perception of ownership with the, I know they haven't won a Super Bowl in a long time, but the sustained success and no losing seasons, I would have thought would have been a must. Give me what are the Cowboys and what are the Patriots. All right, the Cowboys in terms of ownership. Cowboys in terms of ownership, a B. A B, okay.
General manager, who's the owner, a B. And then the Patriots, I wrote the Patriot one down. I think that one surprised me too. B minus. B minus. For the Patriots. And then this was the other one that jumped off the page because you would think. What about the Cleveland Browns? Cleveland Brown. I did not write that one down.
Cleveland Brown ownership was, hold on, I'll give it to you here, ownership of C. Carolina Panthers. Carolina Panthers ownership was a B-. And you asked about Chicago, I know. They gave ownership an A- and their head coach an A. An A, yeah. Yeah, for Ben Johnson. One other team that I think they have good owners, their reputation, two teams. Both teams have good owners, reputations are good.
Vikings and Bucs. All right, so I think the Bucs win will surprise you, I think. Maybe not. Minnesota's ownership, A+. So Minnesota ranked number two. I wrote that down. Minnesota came in. The Dolphins overall had the best score from the players. So it was Miami, Minnesota, Washington.
Minnesota gave treatment of families an A. You got A's across the board for locker room, training staff, weight room, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Position coaches a B+. Coordinator A. Head coach was... an A, general manager, an A, and he's now gone. Yeah. Ownership, an A+. Right, A+.
