Yeah, and another part of this, too, we talk a lot about Sam Darnold and the Jets not hanging on to him and the Vikings not hanging on to him, and here he is. So if you talk to any Ravens fans, they're pissed off because it's like, hey, you're going to fire.
John Harbaugh got fired maybe a couple years too late because you had a guy on the staff here, and Mike McDonald, who could have taken over, and now he's got his team in the Super Bowl. Yeah, well, Jesse Minter was on that staff. You know, he ends up getting the Ravens job. I thought he was going to be in line for the Raiders job, and maybe he was.
But, you know, he obviously has the understanding of the inner workings of the Ravens. And I would think that maybe Clint Kubiak has got to be kind of like the leader in the clubhouse because they haven't said anything. And here he's got to go for another two weeks now preparing for the Super Bowl. Yeah, I was really surprised that the Steelers ended up hiring Mike McCarthy.
I really thought that they were going to go in the same direction that they have had in years prior, but I guess that they're thinking, hey, we're going to have a bridge coach to maybe the next guy who's here for 20 years and maybe Aaron Rodgers staying is something that they wanted so badly that they're like, hey, we'll team him up with Mike McCarthy for a year and then we'll bring a guy in and then Mike can develop that guy.

Yeah, I mean, I think that he and Phillip Rivers have a really, really good relationship. That I know. And that's something that needs to happen with the next guy. It has to be a pre-existing relationship, I would think. But, I mean, I guess when they moved, when the Chargers moved from San Diego to L.A., wasn't Phillip Rivers, he was driving in a bus every day? Yeah, I mean, yeah, he was.
He had a driver like Carton used to have. Driving around the city in a minivan. Sprinter van? Sprinter van, yeah. I thought he had like a tour bus kind of thing. But anyway, so I mean... Well, he's not going to be doing that. He just can't be driving from San Diego to Buffalo every day. And how about the Browns? Poor Browns.

I guess you would think that they would work together, but there's no way that Brandon Bean's going to be hiring somebody that is going to be coming in there and saying, this is what I want to do, like John Harbaugh did here with the Giants.
Chapter 7: What are the implications of coaching changes for NFL teams?
Let's go to John in Oxford, Connecticut. What's going on, John? Oh, thanks for taking the call, guys. Hey, listen, before I get to my question, can I throw you guys a little bit of love? Sure, go ahead. We love that. All right. Here's the thing. You know, this storm, you guys were talking up last week about how all you guys were going to show up. You didn't care what was going to happen.
You had to do it. And I was thinking to myself as a listener, man, I know I'm not going to be working Monday if this weather comes through. I can't believe it if they show up. But if they show up, you guys would make my morning because I'd be able to sit on my butt, wouldn't have to go to work, and I could watch you guys the whole time and maybe even get on.
And that is fantastic that all you guys showed up.

How am I supposed to get excited about this Super Bowl? What the heck is there to get excited about this Super Bowl? From a purely... Thanks, John. From a purely football standpoint, if you're not gambling on it or you're not a fan of either one of these two teams, there's really not much there. If you're someone who's a Jets fan that's really rooting for Sam, you could get into that maybe.
But yeah, it's not exciting. It's not a great matchup. It's not a sexy matchup. It's being played in a place that's not exciting. There's not a lot there. But... This is what's going to happen. Everybody's going to watch it. Everybody's going to gamble on it. There's going to be people yelling and screaming about the halftime show, both good and bad.
We'll come in here and we'll talk about it, and hopefully it's a great game. I don't know what to tell you. Hopefully it's a great game. And if it's a bad game, then that would suck. I mean, I remember going into that Patriots-Rams Super Bowl down in Atlanta. Yep, the first one. That was a, no, no, no, not the first one. The first one was the greatest show on turf. I'm talking the 2019 season.
Oh, okay. All right. The 2019 season. It's where the Patriots came back in the fourth quarter. Yeah, this was the very low scoring. Arizona, right? Was it Arizona? No, no, no. Atlanta. Oh, it was Atlanta. 2019. Yeah. It was a very low scoring game. It was a terrible football game. But going into that week, it was like, all right, this is Sean McVay's first time. This offense is great.
Against LA and Atlanta. Yeah, the Rams. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know. Al was telling me something in my ear that Phillip Rivers pulled his name out of the Bills head coaching search three minutes ago. Oh, look at that. He heard exactly what you were saying. And he said enough. Well, here I'm trying to hear both guys at the same time. It's not easy. No, it's not. All right, so start over.
This matchup on paper stinks, but it could be a great game. Okay. The matchup on paper with Sean McVay's Rams that had just burst onto the scene and were going crazy. You know, the offense was nuts, and it was probably the last, might have been the last time that the Patriots were together trying to win a Super Bowl one more time. Like, that on paper was a really great matchup.
Turned out to be a stinker of a game. How about the Panthers-Patriots game? Yeah. I mean, no way. That was a great game. Yeah, that was a great game. Turned out to be a fantastic game. Yeah. Now, you did have the Patriots in that game, like the Brady Patriots.
These aren't the Brady Patriots, but maybe they end up being a team that is so exciting that they're going to be back every year again, too. I don't know. But this matchup is not a sexy matchup. It's not. Yeah, the Rams would have been sexier because they're the Rams. Yeah. They're L.A. And Matthew Stafford, too.
