The kid is extremely bright. He has all the physical attributes you want. And yesterday it looked like he threw the ball really well, was very accurate, threw like, I think, 60 passes. And he just looks the part, man.

And he's already immersed himself, as I'm being told, into the Raiders' West Coast offense that Clint Kubiak's going to be bringing him to the Raiders. And I think... When you see the success that Sam Darnold had with Clint Kubiak as an offensive play caller and designer, you know that this kid fits in there perfectly. Absolutely perfectly. Yeah, they lucked out. They were a team that wasn't supposed to be as bad as they were, and they were the worst in the league. This would have been a great person. for the Jets to draft and team up with Frank Reich, and it's infuriating to think that he's going to go to the Raiders, as I do believe this guy's going to have a very good NFL career, and it's just someone you want to root for because of his personality and watching him
grow into a superstar and win that national championship. By the way, you know, he's a little bit older, and he's already graduated with a finance degree. Yeah. I mean, so the kid's got the smarts. He's got the respect of his teammates, which means a lot to me. When you watch him and you watch their games and you watch how the coaches, the players all react to him, there's not a selfish bone in this kid's body. Yeah, which is great for the quarterback position. Right, and he wants to be a leader. Listen, there's going to be a lot thrown at him. There's no question about it. But I think it was a match made in heaven once they hired Clint Kubiak, and they're going to take this kid with the number one pick.
It's just absolutely a perfect fit. Now, whether or not the Raiders get out of their bad drafting habits, and hopefully there's enough players around him that he's going to have some success. And I'm thinking about their tight end, their running back. I mean, they have some players. The question now is, can they continue to add to that and then allow him in two years to lead them back to the playoffs? I could see that. Was there a reason for him to even participate in this pro day? He wants to. He wants to show people that he can play. Well, everybody knows he can. He won a national championship. You know what? I know the mindset because... That's one of the reasons I participated in both of the combines that I went to even after separating my shoulder is because I wanted to show the NFL that I could throw, that I could play, that I wanted to be there.
But that's not apples to apples because this guy is the consensus number one overall pick. There's no reason not for him to do his own pro day. Every other player, Cam Ward did his pro day. They all do their pro days. Was Cam Ward consensus, though, at that point? I think it was close to being, yeah. Yeah.

You know, the last time I think the Raiders drafted number one overall, they took to Marcus Russell. That was a disaster. This kid is 100% opposite of that. Yeah, purple drank. Codeine. Remember that whole thing? Sad, yeah. Really sad. But this kid is a special person, I think. And again, if he were 6'1", 215 pounds, I don't know necessarily that I would feel this way about him. But he's that big and they're pairing him with that coach and that offense. To me, it's a can't miss. He's going to start week one, that's for sure. He's older. He's not like Sam Darnold was 20 years old when he got here. Zach Wilson came out of BYU in a... I mean, you talk about misfits. Yeah. Asking a kid to do what the Jets asked both of those kids to do here at that age and coming from where they came from, no way.
No chance in hell for success.
