So I saw yesterday that Ian Rappaport said that Ronnie Barnes was no longer going to be the head athletic trainer. So we had a conversation about that. People from within the organization wanted to make sure that the information was totally correct, which we appreciate. Yeah, yeah.
So I'll read you the text that they sent out to all the writers yesterday in regards to this story that was reported. And that's what we were discussing this morning, how John Harbaugh is going to want some of his people in very important positions. Yeah. And there's nothing wrong with that.
That happens across the NFL every single year and every time there's a coaching change or a general manager change. So FYI, regarding Ronnie Barnes, his role is not changing. Same title. Yeah, it's the same title. Whatever that title is right now. Ronnie Barnes. It's Ronnie Barnes.
Chapter 2: What changes are happening in the Giants' training staff?
Same title. His role is not changing. Still oversees our medical services. The only change... So there is a change. There's something happening. Nothing's changing, but the only change. But the only change. Gotcha. So the only change expected in the training room will be hiring a new head trainer under... Ronnie Barnes. Oh, okay. So Ronnie's still there.
He's still part of the organization, but they're bringing in a new head trainer. Okay. But Ronnie's handling the medical services. Okay. So it seems like his role is shifting, and maybe the responsibilities aren't going to be as great, or who knows.
So John Harbaugh probably wants somebody that he knows and that he's comfortable working with and may have been an assistant with the Ravens or somewhere along the line. You know, the Harbaugh tree is all over the place. I mean, guys all over the Minter now is taking a Ravens job who was under John Harbaugh and with Jim Harbaugh. That's right. So now he's going to the Ravens.
Harbaugh, Harbaugh, Harbaugh. It's like a Harbaugh tree. Harbaugh's everywhere. Yeah. Well, he comes from the Andy Reid tree, right, John Harbaugh? Yes, he does. Yeah. Uh-huh. And Andy Reid comes from the Mike Holmgren tree. Yeah, he does. Eddie Reed created the Kansas City model. He did. He absolutely did. So all those things are true.
And everything we told you about Ronnie Barnes is also now true after we clarified all of that. So there was a change. And I guess he does not have an office next to Schmelke. I didn't ask whether or not. You want me to ask that? Yeah, where's Ronnie Barnes' office in relation to John Schmelke? I'm glad Ronnie's still here, and I'm glad Ronnie's stable. He's got a stable job. His life is good.
Everything's fine. We don't want to create misinformation. But there is a change. Well, yeah. No, but yeah. Yeah, no.
I mean, I think what happened here is that Ronnie Barnes is a very well-respected person, and rightfully so, in that organization, and I think they're making some changes to what is going on, and they're softly saying that he's no longer going to be in charge of that type of stuff, but someone's working under him. Maybe that's what's going on. I don't know. I have no idea.
I mean, John Harbaugh's going in there. He's cleaning house. Wow. I mean, look, he wants the control of things that he can control. And very few times does a head coach have the opportunity to really do that unless you have the resume and reputation of a John Harbaugh. Let's put it that way. Yeah, of course. And he's earned that right. Earned the right. He has earned that right.
And that's something that John Harbaugh said himself. We got to earn the right to build this team the way it needs to be built. Andrenik in New Jersey. Good morning. What's happening?
