it's the boomer and geo podcast from wfan hi boomer and geo on the fan and cbs sports network championship sunday in the books jerry recco is here we've got our super bowl 60 matchup the seahawks and patriots what's up jerry We are brought to you by Chef IQ, precision cooking, effortless results, chefiq.com. We've got some Kevin Harlan for you this hour.
He was out in Seattle, Seahawks and Rams yesterday, and Sam Darnold heading to the Super Bowl.
The snap, the fake end up, drops back, got a running back block, throws to the end zone, touchdown, caught, leaping, down the middle, Bobo! Jake Bobo with the leap and a catch!
Yeah, and a touchdown. Bobo! Jake Bobo. Yeah, that made it 24-13. They would score again to go up, whatever it was, 31-20. And 31-27 was the final score. Kevin Harlan Westwood won on the fan. But the Rams did have the ball down. They had the one drive that stalled at the six-yard line. Then they had it late. I know Boomer wishes they would have stopped the clock. They didn't.
This turned out to be the final play of the game as Seattle clinched.
Seven defensive backs. Ten seconds to go. Rams at the 30 down by four. Shotgun snap to Stafford.
Sets in the pocket. Plenty of time.

Chapter 2: How did Sam Darnold perform in the playoffs?
Winds up. Throws to the near sideline. Caught. 50-yard line and out of bounds. Nakua. The clock at one. Oh, they keep the clock going. It's over. It's over. Seattle has won. The Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl! They are indeed. Again, Kevin Harlan Westwood won. 31-27, your final score. What a day for Sam Darnold. 346 yards passing and three touchdowns.
A lot of it goes to Jackson Smith and Jigba, who had 10 catches for 153 in a score. Here was head coach Mike McDonald. Nothing easy about this, but a win is a win is a win.
We didn't play our best game on defense. We made enough plays to win. You've got to give them a lot of credit. They had a great game plan, did some things we weren't ready for. We had to adjust again, par for the course for their offense. And it's a team win.
It was a team win for sure. I'll tell you, there really wasn't a pass rush by the Seahawks yesterday. That's what I was shocked at. Because the week before, they were all over Brock Purdy. Did you guys see the interview where Mike McDonald said that during the season he sees his son like 30 minutes a week on Thursdays? I was like, wow. How old is his son? I think less than 10, I think.
Well, you know, that's a lifer as a coach. That's what it takes, unfortunately, in their minds. In their minds, that's what it takes. Time, effort, being on top of everything, never leaving the building, always being involved, being engaged. And, you know, some coaches change it up a little bit, and they give some of their coaches a little bit more free time.
But he sounds like he's a throwback to the guys that used to sleep in the office, Joe Gibbs and those guys. I mean, you know, that's what it takes to be a successful head coach in their minds. Here is Leonard Williams. You guys referenced him last hour, the former Giant, former Jet, talking about his days or asked about his days with the Giants and Julian Love.
Julian said that you guys had an embrace after the game. He sort of mentioned, you guys had time with the Giants. What is it like to do this with him?
Yeah, I got so excited I took his son, Julian, I mean, Noah, and started running around with him. But, I mean, it means so much. I mean, me and Julian have been side-by-side since his rookie year. We've been through a lot of adversity. Saw so many guys in this building. You know, I can think of so many, like Demarcus Lawrence, Sam Donald. You know the song? No. That one I don't know.
I don't either. Nope. At times it got a little louder, then it got a little lighter. So Seattle moves on. The Rams heading home. Here's Matthew Stafford. Last hour I played you that clip where Sean McVay was very quick and reported he didn't like the question about Stafford and his future. Here was Stafford who didn't seem to care about the question about their stalled drive at the six-yard line.

Chapter 3: What did Matthew Stafford say after the game?
And he's also coaching his kids in high school. That too. And maybe the Colts want him back next year. You never know. The Clippers beat the Nets 126-89. Just a couple of quickies from this, because this is kind of funny. Here's Michael Porter, who, I mean, they were terrible, and he knows it.
They just played better than us.
Chapter 4: What were Matthew Stafford's thoughts on the season?
They were obviously the better team tonight, so that's pretty much it. I mean, yeah, that's pretty much it. They just were better than us tonight.
Okay, now you want to talk about real talk? Here's their head coach, Jordy Fernandez. I caught this one just a couple of minutes ago. I thought this was funny.
You can lose, and you can be a loser. So for 18 minutes, we lost, and we were competitive, and for 30, we were losers.
Losers. Who's going to be their next coach? No, I don't think he's going anywhere. I really don't. Not this year, but, I mean, starting next year. I think he'll be the head coach next year. I think he will be the head coach. I really do. I don't think he's going anywhere. That's pretty funny. What's your name again, Jordy? I forgot I hired you.
I've just been in my office over here just watching this whole thing burn. The ground, yep. Sean Marks. GM, president of the Knits. He was in Australia last week. Oh, okay. Scouting somebody. So he hasn't seen this mess. A wallaby, actually. It'd be the first ever...
wallaby in the nba since i'm not very good at no hiring humans i'm gonna go with the animals yeah well one guy he hired was kevin durant now the rock has played the grizzlies tonight and this is another clip i enjoy because durant is not 20 anymore and he's been playing 35 40 minutes a night so they asked him yesterday at practice how he's feeling
I feel great. I mean, that's what I get paid to do.
I get paid 50-some million dollars to be available and play. Or, what are you doing? That's 40 million to not play. To not play. Unbelievable. I will say over the weekend, though, it was a good win by the Knicks in Philadelphia. It was. That was. They almost gave it away because they couldn't shoot free throws. And the officiating was horrendous.
But they do get the win because Phillies played very well. And you have a major problem with Carl Anthony Towns, by the way. We know that. Don't tell me I have a major problem. You're not winning with him on this roster. It sounds like you're mimicking what Gio said. I said at the end of the last year I got crushed for that. Carl Banks came after me. You know when that happens, it's serious.
