022: Understanding Mental Imagery in Sport – Seeing isn't always believing
01 Aug 2013
Is what you see, really what you see... or what you think you see? In this episode of Brain in the Game we explore how we can embed better commands into our neurology in a way to guarantee better performance. As an athlete we rely heavily on getting our bodies to do certain things based on our internal understanding of the skill, our internal image and interpretation of what it should look like and THEN how that message correlates to our own bodies actions, behaviours and sequence of triggers. Understand if you put rubbish in – you get rubbish out! And if you put quality in – you get quality out. It is imperative that the quality of the message we internalise is critical to the performance.
