Chopp, a widely published author, editor, and academic, is currently the Chancellor Emerita of the University of Denver and the former President of both Colgate University and Swarthmore College. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2019, and over the past few years, has become an accomplished painter. Her upcoming book, Art, Spirit, Body: Ways to Live While Dying from Alzheimer’s, is an inspirational memoir and guide on how to live well in the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Chopp is a founding member of Voices of Alzheimer’s and a board member of the Colorado Alzheimer’s Association. She is also an avid hiker, reader, and dog lover.   In the talk, Chopp will share her unconventional experience with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis and the role advocacy has come to play in her life.
