I mean, there's been... Like, it's always been popular here, but there is an explosion right now in its popularity and in particular... You know, Luke Combs is huge. I mentioned Zach Bryan is there. But Luke has had an incredible rise to fame, hasn't he?
Yeah, I mean, country music right now is just taking another spin completely. It's incredible for anyone who's been following it for so long because now it's available everywhere. And we have it now, as I said on Today FM, we're playing country music. But Luke's career has just triumphed over the last 10 years. Like his first song only came out in 2017 and now he's over here singing. In Ireland, playing two nights out in Slane, which I never honestly thought would happen, if I'm being honest. 80,000 people tonight and 80,000 people tomorrow. It's something that is, it's growing legs. And I think there's going to be more that are going to follow Luke, you know.
He's a grafter, isn't he? Like he worked hard, like he went to try and get on The Voice. He didn't succeed there. And he was last to, down to his last pennies, wasn't he, when he recorded a song that became a worldwide hit.
Yeah. So he like was from North Carolina, then went down to Nashville like every country singer does. And, you know, you song write, you go around and you it's kind of like a 10 year town, they say. That's the phrase they use down in Nashville. But then in 2017, he released a song called Hurricane, got a record deal, publishing deal. And after that, one song came after another. And I think it was around the time where country music needed a new voice. And Luke was just that voice. And I follow him from like probably beyond that. You know, I've been following careers. I've heard of Luke for so many years. But Hurricane came and then after that, you had like a snowball effect of, you know, Beer Never Broke My Heart and, you know, Beautiful Crazy that people know.
And it's just, it's got bigger and bigger sense for him.
His timing was good as well, wasn't it? Because it came at the start of the lockdown, people being at home and maybe giving new and different music a try out for the first time.
Yeah, I think lockdown was a great thing for everyone who, as you said, had extra time to kind of search the net and see artists and TikTok. My God, we were all on TikTok at that time. So country music artists were starting to come out and a lot of artists' music was just floating around and people were like, oh, who's this person? I'm sure a lot of people knew who Luke was regardless, but then it's kind of like you find Luke and then you find someone else and someone else after that. But Luke is definitely at the moment like one of the biggest stars in country music. And some people are like, oh, who's Luke Holmes? And I'm like, oh, oh my God, Luke Combs, like he's huge. And they're like, oh, tickets might be expensive.
I'm like, guys, if you have to go to Nashville to get a ticket for Luke Combs, you know, you'd be paying thousands of dollars. So we're so fortunate to have these concerts come to Ireland now. And that's what I'm always encouraging people. When you see it, just go for it because you're going to love it.
