How did the hosts start the episode and what’s the “There’s Only So Many Topics” premise?

Brooke Averick 0:07
If you could pick one feeling to never experience for the rest of your life, what would it be? Have I already asked this?
Connor Wood 0:16
Well, I know what yours is. What? Nausea, but mine would be anxiety for sure.
Brooke Averick 0:21
We have done. This is something we've done because I was just thinking.
Connor Wood 0:24
No, you just don't like being nauseous.
Brooke Averick 0:25
Would I rather never experience nausea or anxiety? I was just thinking that. But they're so closely linked.
Connor Wood 0:33
Yeah, because you could get anxious about how nauseous you are.
Brooke Averick 0:37
And nauseous about how anxious you are. For sure.
Brooke Averick 0:58
I would never experience nausea. We've, I'm sorry, we've had this conversation. It's like there's only so many topics.
Connor Wood 1:06
Well, I'll tell you one that's kind of like pretty closely linked to both of those.
Brooke Averick 1:10
What?
Connor Wood 1:12
I picked up this new, I used to drink a lot of kombucha.
Brooke Averick 1:16
Yeah.
Connor Wood 1:16
I don't know what, like I kind of just like, you know me, if people are like, this is good for you and this is like the new thing, I'm just going to start doing it. Retta.
Brooke Averick 1:28
Kombucha's been around.
Yeah.
Connor Wood 1:30
I know kombucha is like old as dirt, but the like GT, GTS kombucha.
Brooke Averick 1:37
Oh, I didn't know about the GTS model.
Connor Wood 1:39
Is it GTs? It's something. It's GTs, I think. I started getting this like in college because at my office that I worked at, they had it for free in the fridge. And I was drinking them pretty constantly. And I just saw them again. I was like, that sounds good to me. This specific flavor, Vital C, is genuinely a Four Loko.
Brooke Averick 2:00
Really?
Connor Wood 2:01
Yeah. Have you had a Four Loko?
Brooke Averick 2:03
I was just about to say, you know, it's never even touched my lips.
Connor Wood 2:07
Okay. I'm going to try to think of something. Think about if you mix- The chemical. If you mix together cologne with like a fruit punch Capri Sun. That is what a Four Loko tastes like.
Brooke Averick 2:25
That doesn't sound like horrible.
Connor Wood 2:28
Cologne?
Brooke Averick 2:29
I don't know. I mean, that sounds better than like vodka to me.
Connor Wood 2:35
Oh, Lord.
Brooke Averick 2:36
I remember the first time I was exposed to drinking was a Four Loko. Like we were at some kid's birthday party and there was a Four Loko hidden in the bathroom and everyone was like going and taking sips of it and then coming back out. And my friend, one of my best friends took a sip and I was like, I don't, I honestly don't think I can be friends with you anymore.
Connor Wood 2:57
We, did I tell you about my, the Halloween that we did something similar?
Brooke Averick 3:04
By the river?
Connor Wood 3:05
The Halloween, it was a lake, but yeah, you're almost there.
Brooke Averick 3:08
And you threw them in.
Connor Wood 3:11
Yeah, but I was a bumblebee costume. There's only so many new topics. My friends were all, yeah, there's only, listen, if someone might have started listening today and you can listen to this story. I think we were 12 and my friends were older than me. So they were like a level of like, let's go out to my dad's fridge in the garage and we'll take some beer. And they put them in because I was a fat bumblebee for Halloween.
Brooke Averick 3:32
Yes, yes, I know this.
Connor Wood 3:33
And it zipped from the back and they were like, we're going to put the beers into your fat bumblebee costume. And they did just that. And so I'm wobbling through the house, just fat as can be, full of beers. And then we opened one, and then we threw the rest into the lake. And then they started bobbing around like cauliflower, and they're floating towards the house that all of our parents are at the back yard of. Oh, that was nightmare fuel.
Brooke Averick 4:00
12 feels really, really young.

Why is Connor obsessed with kombucha and Beanie Babies stories?

Connor Wood 4:04
I always say 12...
Brooke Averick 4:05
Like, I'm pretty sure I was still, like, talking to my stuffed animals.
Connor Wood 4:11
That tracks for both of us.
Brooke Averick 4:13
Yeah. I mean, I still check in with my stuffies.
Connor Wood 4:18
It is hard to shake that feeling that there is a living, breathing sentience in my Sealy.
Brooke Averick 4:27
Like, you can't tell me that there's nothing there.
Connor Wood 4:31
You can't tell me that there's nothing there because the actual physical, almost debilitating guilt I felt for chewing off Celie's whiskers so I could fall asleep every night still makes me feel very, very full. Not because I ate the whiskers, but because I actually feel probably a little sick.
Brooke Averick 4:53
Nausea meets anxiety mode.
Connor Wood 4:56
I chewed his nose off too. I chewed his nose clean off.
Brooke Averick 5:02
And swallowed it?
Connor Wood 5:03
Straight off. Did you swallow it? Probably a decent amount of his nose.
