Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Dr. Laurie Santos from the Happiness Lab here. It's the season of giving, and this year my podcast, the Happiness Lab, is partnering with GiveDirectly, a nonprofit that provides people in extreme poverty with the cash they need as part of the Pods Fight Poverty campaign. Our goal this year is to raise $1 million, which will bring over 700 families out of extreme poverty.
Your donation will put cash directly in the hands of these families in need. And they'll get to decide how to use it, whether that's school transportation, purchasing livestock, or starting a business. Plus, if you're a first-time donor, your gift will be matched by giving multiplier, which means more money for those in need. Visit givedirectly.org slash happiness lab to learn more and to donate.

What are the cycles fathers pass down that sons are left to heal? What if being a man wasn't about holding it all together, but learning how to let go?

Hi, I'm Radhi Devlukia, and I am the host of A Really Good Cry podcast. This week, I am joined by Anna Runkle, also known as the Crappy Childhood Fairy, a creator, teacher, and guide helping people heal from the lasting emotional wounds of unsafe or chaotic childhoods.
Talking about trauma isn't always great for people. It's not always the best thing. About a third of people who are traumatized as kids feel worse when they talk about it, get very dysregulated.

Chapter 2: What controversial event occurred during the second date?
I mean, here's the thing. Are you really that confused about why he left? Yeah, I want answers. I'm pissed. He wasted my time. He wasted my energy, my makeup products. Hello. I mean, Brooke, sure, maybe he didn't want to be on the date anymore, but shouldn't he have at least had the gentleman courtesy to say something to her?
Be a man like your husband, I'm sure would have been, and ditch before he ditched you on the date? I'm just sure, but I'm guessing.
Thank you. That's all that we need.
We don't need the butts. We don't need the butts. I think that he was probably scared of her. This guy deserves to answer up for the cowardly move that he did. Yeah, be a man. Ditching him by not saying anything. Jenna, we're all on board with you despite the words you might hear.
Thank you guys so much for your support. I appreciate it.
We appreciate you, Jenna, and we would love if you left a five-star review on our podcast when you're done with this. It would really go a long way. Okay, perfect. Let's wait until segment two before she actually... No, I wanted to put it now before segment two because who knows what's going to happen when we come back.
We're going to call Peter and we'll see what he has to say in your second date update right after this.
Second Date Update
The room seems very divided about this call with our listener, Jenna, who told us that she's extremely upset since her date, Peter, told her that he made dinner reservations. But they showed up and the hostess said, well, actually, you're going to need to wait an extra 15 minutes. Wait, there's no scream after you said that, Jeff? Like, what? Jenna didn't scream.

Chapter 3: Why did Jenna feel furious about her date with Peter?
Quivering Pete had dipped out without saying a single word. Those are Brooke's words, by the way. I hate when you just quote me like that. Yeah, that's true. Brooke, I am just curious, though, because I was getting the vibe in the first part that you took issue with Jenna's approach to how she handled the situation.
And I'm just wondering, would it be different if they had a reservation and it was an extra 45 minutes, an hour? Would her actions be warranted if the time length was different? I mean, those are all, like, what ifs. Like, that's not what happened. Because you know that I'm right. No, it's not. It's like hypotheticals, and hypotheticals will always get you in trouble.
Okay, Jenna, I'm trying to get them onto your side. I'm doing everything in my power. They still want to be Team Peter for some reason. Brooke, I get the vibe that you don't support me and I've heard on your show that you support women and honestly, I don't feel supported right now. Yeah, where are you today? What happened?
I just don't know that you should be so mystified that Peter's not interested. I don't think that's it, though. I don't think she's mystified about why he's not interested. She's just not understanding why he took the approach where he did without saying a word. He was rude. Yeah, I just want to know what he was thinking to make such a cowardly
decision to just leave without saying anything we don't know what we're gonna get if peter answers the phone all right let's call him let's see maybe he will own up to all the mistakes that he made that day but let's find out i bet you'll i bet jenna will be very kind and forgiving of it yes We're not dealing with hypotheticals, as you so eloquently said earlier.
How does that taste?
Let's just take some real action and dial the number.
Nothing even makes sense that's being said in this room.
I'm not from the peanut gallery. Let's get some answers.

Chapter 4: What happened when Jenna confronted the restaurant manager?
Okay. I like how you just take what you want. I don't know how you got there. Jenna, what you're saying doesn't even make any sense. It makes total sense. I just want an apology. I mean, I think that's a fair ask. Just one tiny apology for all the trouble that Jenna had to go through to get her table. And then in return, will Jenna then apologize to the restaurant manager?
The restaurant gave her free food and drinks for their own mistake. They admitted they were wrong. They were 15 minutes late for her reservation. She didn't even wait 15 minutes, you guys. You know what? At this point, I don't even just want an apology from Peter. I want an apology from Brooke, too. Oh, okay.
All right, Brooke, why don't you be a good role model and show Peter how a good apology is done? I don't think it's healthy to apologize for something that you didn't do wrong.
Oh. Right?
I'm not going to take blame for Jenna's behavior. I'm sorry. Well, maybe you should apologize for the outfit that you chose to wear today because this is a pain to ever see. Okay, is it like a snuggie? It's like a blanket. Jeff, for that, I am sorry.
Okay.
I'm sorry for that. Jenna, I'm going to pass that apology over to you. Peter, now's your chance to apologize for ditching out on Jenna without a word. Ready? Three, two, one, and... You know, when they say you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. That's why I left. And I just got to back Brooke on this. I mean, I can't condone bad behavior like that. I'm sorry. Yeah.
All right. That was a long-winded way of almost saying absolutely nothing. Yeah. You could have just said, I'm sorry. Jenna did not get what she wanted. Anyway, Jenna, I'm so, so sorry that you had to go through all of this.
Do we offer a date? Thank you. She didn't want one to start. Oh.

I didn't really have an interest in being on air. I kind of was up there to just try and infiltrate the building. From the underground clubs that shaped global music to the pastors and creatives who built the cultural empire, the Atlanta Ears podcast uncovers the stories behind one of the most influential cities in the world. The thing I love about Atlanta is that it's a city of hustlers, man.
Each episode explores a different chapter of Atlanta's rise, featuring conversations with Ludacris, Will Packer, Pastor Jamal Bryant, DJ Drama, and more. The full series is available to listen to now. Listen to Atlanta Ears on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
