This is Saigon, the story of my family and of the country that shaped us. From iHeart Podcasts, Saigon. You don't think I'm serious about a free Vietnam? One city, a divided country, and the war that tore America apart. This is for Vietnam. They're pouring petrol all over here. Freedom for Vietnam! There's a fire coming to this country and it's going to burn out everything.

Chapter 2: How do travel experiences shape our expectations of hotels?

266.606 - 291.14 Brooke and Jeffrey

So already you have to stay at a hotel that offers room service. So we're already in the upper echelon. I would think that that's classy. That's true. But one guest demanded that their room have an Evian-filled bathtub when they arrived so that their child could bathe in the purest water possible. That's so bougie. I love Evian. Who's just filling it up with tap water and charging them for Evian?

0

291.16 - 313.354 Brooke and Jeffrey

They don't know the difference. I don't know. They might. They literally might put a finger in it and go. You should put a bunch of bottles next to the tub. Oh, yeah. Like ten bottles. Yeah. Another asked for a customized, allergen-aware food menu for their pet. Oh, for a pet! Like bags of gluten-free, dairy-free, locally-sourced dog food options. Is there a normal dog food menu?

0

313.394 - 334.75 Brooke and Jeffrey

Apparently, and it's not good enough. Oh, okay. Excuse me, Kensington doesn't eat Purina One like some common butt-sniffing puggle. I just saw Kensington eat another dog's poo. Get us a lime steak, medium rare. This one's kind of weird. One guest wanted six slices of dry, burnt toast. What?

0

334.73 - 357.075 Brooke and Jeffrey

black waiting in their room some people like that yeah they're like please let it smell like a stroke these are the strangest requests that guests ever made for room service one wanted a caviar hot dog oh my God that's probably the dog food guy again I've seen this on a viral there's some there's a there's a caviar hot dog somewhere in the world why do you provide those two things

0

357.055 - 380.349 Brooke and Jeffrey

It hits different eating a caviar hot dog on the beach. Staring at the waves. You would be at a ball game. Who else is having delicious caviar? I'm going to trust you on that one, Jeff. Someone requested freshly squeezed goat milk for their room. Hey, they didn't ask for them to squeeze it themselves. Goat's not easy to milk. You got to put them in a small area. They get real upset.

380.389 - 381.792 Unknown

Oh, go to the bathtub.

381.812 - 399.635 Brooke and Jeffrey

It's true. They kick a lot. One guest wanted four pounds of bananas. Wow. A lot of bananas. I love bananas, so I don't feel like... What are they doing that they need that much potassium, though? Oh, he's so rich he's got a pet monkey. Well, maybe they're not eating him. Oh, yeah, Brooke's probably right. High five from a team member.

400.056 - 406.348 Brooke and Jeffrey

Quote, just to ensure the room service request was actually read. Oh, those people.

406.368 - 406.468

Yeah.

Chapter 3: What are some of the strangest hotel room service requests?

540.646 - 561.041 Brooke and Jeffrey

Or maybe for the corn cob thing. A snake in a terrarium. Oh, my gosh. And 40 feet of construction pipe. Whoa. If the hotel room's not big enough for you, you've got to work on it, make it the right size. We didn't get the upgrade, but I'm going to get us the upgrade. We're going to hit a second story by morning. That's something my dad would do.

0

561.061 - 568.671 Brooke and Jeffrey

Those are the strangest things hotel guests left in their room after checkout. That was fun, Jeff. Your phone tap is coming up right after this.
