His focus at Nuvera is on eliminating the barriers to fuel cell adoption primarily for medium- and heavy-duty motive applications currently powered by diesel. Gus serves on the governor’s Zero Emissions Vehicle Commission in Massachusetts, and is chair of the Communications and Marketing Committee of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association. Gus earned a mechanical engineering degree from The Cooper Union, and studied philosophy at Brandeis University. As a Fulbright fellow, Gus built a wind-powered electrolyzer in Sri Lanka. He also taught boatbuilding as part of a United Nations initiative for two years in the Maldive islands.
