All her life she’d battled through sickness, and because mental health is something that is still so rarely spoken about, her family swept it under the rug. It was then that Julia decided she wanted to learn more about mental health, different disorders and the effects it has on people. She wanted to understand what her grandmother was going through and how she could help other people struggling. My grandmother inspired me to specialise in psychology and become a counsellor and coach.  Julia holds a masters in Psychology, as well as both counselling and presence coaching qualifications. Her practice is CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) and is focused with approaches taken from Gestalt as well as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and Psychoeducation.  In this episode we discuss key topics about how to fix the things that trigger you in life. Julia briefly explains what inner child work is and why we suffer from it. We talk about limiting beliefs and how they were instilled in us from such a young age. Nick talks about his experience on his personal development journey, the difference between the victim and victor mindset and how to let things go. We chat about self compassion and why it can be considered selfish by some and also showing compassion to others. We dive into overthinking and anxiety and strategies you can use to help you deal with these problems. Julia explains the subconscious and how it controls our behaviour without us even realising it. Nick asks Julia the best way to deal with regrets and guilt tripping and we conclude by getting some great advice from Julia for people who may be struggling mentally at the moment.   CHAPTERS 0:00 - Intro  3:35 - Inner Child Work  5:25 - Strategies For Inner Child Work  8:20 - Limiting Beliefs  12:30 - Self Awareness & Acceptance  17:00 - Biggest False Beliefs   19:00 - Self Compassion  21:30 - Why Is Self Compassion Selfish  23:10 - Showing Compassion  25:30 - Overthinking  31:00 - The Subconcious Mind  33:00 - Regrets & Guilt Tripping  35:45 - Recap and Advice  38:00 - Outro  Check Out our other episodes here:    🎙️Available On:  Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1jFl8eKDIHKfUBXfyHKWi9?si=5d6d6e35f3b844cd Itunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-thinkernick-podcast/id1583327169 AnchorFM: https://anchor.fm/thinkernick LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/thinkernick   🤠Follow us on:  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Thinkernick-103778451830989 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thinkernickpod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ThinkerNickPod Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thinkernick?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc  Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@ThinkerNickChannel 😎Julia's Links:  Facebook and instagram: @juliapeters.psychologist Website: www.juliapeters.net Email: [email protected] #shorts #thinkernick #tricks #selfcare #limitingbeliefs #regrets #anxiety #innerchild #innerchildwoundshealing #selfcompassion #compassion #subconscious #subconciousmind #overthinking #personaldevelopment
