Business & Technology Insights from Capgemini

Introducing AR & VR in Operations with Jerome Buvat

21 Sep 2018

Description

"Virtual and augmented reality are two technologies most commonly associated with consumers, but are quickly being adopted by organizations for use in their operations. According to our recent report, half of all large enterprises that are currently not implementing AR and VR technologies in their business operations, expect it to be mainstream in their organization within the next three years. Our latest report, “Augmented and Virtual Reality in Operations: A guide for investment”, surveys over 700 individuals with considerable knowledge of their organization’s AR/VR initiatives. The report provides insights on the ways enterprises are using immersive technology and the benefits they are beginning to see – which are found to be either meeting or beating the expectations of 82% of enterprises. Across multiple industries, the report also revealed that two thirds of businesses see AR as more relevant than VR, despite being more complex to implement. Increased productivity and efficiency are found to be top benefits for AR, whereas improvements in safety and efficiency are top benefits for VR. For both technologies – repair and maintenance are revealed to be the most popular use case. However, the report also identified some key challenges which are inhibiting the potential growth of immersive technologies in enterprises, including a shortage of in-house expertise and outdated infrastructure. Download the research report to discover: How AR/VR is being used today Where organizations should invest How companies can either begin or evolve their initiatives"
