Yo, what's going on, Busted Open Nation, and thanks for tuning in to another edition of the Busted Open After Dark podcast. This is the After Dark Podcast. Turn it up. This is the Busted Open Podcast. He is the current nXT interim general менеджер. His name is Robert Stone. Rob, Robbie, welcome to Bust It Open After Dark.

Yeah, I gotta say, after a wild night like tonight, and you probably aren't gonna believe this, but the fact that it's like ten twenty at night right now, I'm actually kinda tired. I know when the old me that you knew, this is when I was just kind of starting the party, but like I'm I'm old now, dude. I'm tired, man. It's a rough day. It's a rough day.
Bully Ray 0:59
It's interesting that you said the old me. Because before I brought you on tonight, I was kind of thinking about the old you. A
Robert Stone 1:08
lot different.
Bully Ray 1:10
Different person, you're definitely more mature, right? I can't argue with that. And we're gonna talk about all this. And I actually started after dark by saying I I put you over. And and earlier in the day I walked up to you and I put you over to your face. I appreciate it. I don't just say shit on the air. And I don't even think you should be the interim general manager anymore. I think you should be the general manager. I I think in such a short period of time you've done a off the charts job. of proving why this position really uh belongs to you. So let me talk to you about the position. You were Ava's assistant For so long. I never really agreed with having such a young general manager. Whether that was male or female, it didn't matter.
Bully Ray 2:00
What was it like for you being more seasoned in the wrestling business, having to be the assistant to such a young general manager?
Robert Stone 2:09
Well, here's the thing. At this point, y you know me. I I am happy to be doing anything and I make the best out of every situation. Television time is television time. So even being uh an assistant to Ava, the reality is it gave me cause it lasted for give or take about two years, it gave me two years to learn how to be the interim GM without being the interim GM yet, which I is why I feel like right now I'm doing such a good job 'cause I kind of was on the back burner just watching it all happen. And now that it's mine to have, you know, I was fully prepared for it. So I think I think in the long run it it helped me.
Bully Ray 2:45
Who told you, who pulled you on the side and let you know, hey, we're giving you a shot, we're handing you the ball, we're let's see what you can do. Shawn Michaels, the man. Now W the first time you found out, was it on television? Did they hit you with this on TV? Absolutely. Yep.

How did Robert transition from Ava’s assistant to the interim GM of NXT?

Bully Ray 3:06
You had no clue.
Robert Stone 3:07
I had no clue before. Wow. Yeah. I had no clue that was happening. Obviously in my mind, I knew that the position was open. I knew that Ava was no longer going to be the GM. So am I hoping for that? And that weekend am I, you know, dreaming that that could be a reality? Yes, that i it could change everything for me, which it has this past month. So yeah, I mean I'm sitting there on the edge of my seat like a kid in a candy store, but this is professional wrestling. I can't get excited about something before it happens because you know, anything could happen.
Bully Ray 3:34
Anything could happen. Things can change at the last minute. So Shawn Michaels, Mr. WrestleMania, legend, the guy that runs the joint down here, tells you, Hey, we're gonna give you this spot. Yep. Can you can you remember the emotions that were going through you in that exact moment?
Robert Stone 3:50
You know, it's like it's like the day I signed my WWE contract. It's kinda like a surreal moment. Like it you you believe it's happening, is it really happening? It all It didn't sick in until later on that night. Now a month later, I don't even know if it's fully sunk in yet. You know what I mean? It's just it was such a change for me 'cause again, for two years I would go a month or two months at a time where, you know, a and again I I didn't mind being in this situation, but I'm just Ava's assistant.
