Chapter 1: Who are Uncle Bully and the Belly Nephews?
I'm Uncle Bully. I'm the OG of AD. Hanging with a couple of misfits in the studio with me also right now. NXT Tag Team Superstars, Hank and Tank. Welcome to Busted Open After Dark. This is the Busted Open Podcast.
The Belly Nephews on with Uncle Bully. I think it works. I think it works.
You know, you're talking about the bellies and everything. You know, I always talk about how, you know, the business and what guys looked like back in the day. We had all, and girls, all shapes and sizes. And I always said, you know, Dusty didn't need abs. It just depends on how over, you guys are not like body guys and you have fun with the way you go.
But the one thing. I don't think, I don't think we might be a little bit of body guys. Don't be worried about that. Is that coming through the mic? Give the acoustic check. Check, check, mic two. That's the belly slapping if you're listening on XM Radio, ladies and gentlemen. What are you doing? You're in the room with a couple of bodyguards as far as I'm concerned, Bully.
Wow. Justified that was awesome chance from Uncle Bully right there. You're not bodyguards. None of us are, but, man, you guys got gas in the tank. One of the things that caught my eye.
about the both of you was one night there was a match going on you guys about 15 minutes deep into the match and you two were moving moving moving there's really no question out there i wanted to put you over but how long have you guys been together right now in nxt
First of all, appreciate you saying that, Bully. Seriously, that means a ton coming from anybody, especially a legend of the business like you. But Hank and I have both been down here for about four years, and I think, what were we together? Maybe three years and 11 months of that? Pretty much the entire time at NXT, Hank and Tank have been Hank and Tank. Yeah. Yes, sir.
One of the things that I was talking about before you guys jumped on, I'm not trying to jump the gun on you guys at all. But earlier on Busted Open, we were talking about the tag division on Raw and SmackDown and, you know, how it can be strengthened a little bit. I look at your act and you guys not only can go. But you're so much fun, you're fan friendly, people get into your matches.
I could see you being plugged in to the main event picture right now. Do you guys feel that? I'm sorry, the main event tag scene right now. Do you guys feel that or do you still wanna try to hone your craft in NXT?

Chapter 2: What insights do Hank and Tank share about their journey in NXT?
Tonight's match. business as usual, or did they test you a little bit out there?
I'll tell you what, for a couple of nepotism babies, they sure do know how to hit hard. They can go. They can go now. They can go. They definitely took us a little bit further than we thought we were going to, but honestly, that's because Apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and it just shows in the ring. They're workhorses. They're studs, but today we got the job done.
A little shout-out to Matt Matthews, the assistant. He's out there. He got the job done. I think Lexus' family jewels are okay, I hope. I really don't hope they're okay. Honestly, I'll give credit where credit is due between Stacks and Uribe. Alexis King gets on my nerve. So seeing him take one of the jewels today absolutely made my night. That gave me more motivation going into collision course.
I think the more important question is, is Charlie Dempsey's mouth okay? That's up for debate, definitely.
We don't know what's going on. You introduced Charlie Dempsey's mouth to Alexis King's lower extremities. What's up? What's up? No stranger to a gay time now. One, two, three. Awesome. Awesome. Love it.
I never thought I'd get to do that with Bully. That's sick. That's kind of awesome. What a great way to end the Tuesday.
Speaking of things like the what's up, you guys have the honk honk. You have the collision chorus. Did you understand when you first got together how important it was to have signature stuff, signature moves that fans could get behind?
honestly i think it's one of those things you just got to learn for yourself and like we said when we started off we didn't have the hong kong we didn't have collision course we didn't have all the tools in the tool belt that we've grown to learn and have on us it's it's been a learning process but that's what nxt is for that's why nxt is so great that's where you get the opportunities to learn to grow to become closer as for us in a tag team and to get better in the ring
I think it's funny, a little glimpse for the fans listening, a little glimpse behind the curtain of before Hank and Tank ever called it a honk honk, we used to talk about, okay, if we get our opponents in this sort of position, we're going to do the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We used to call it the PB&J. We're going to make a sandwich and we'll be the bread. You get it. It was great.

Chapter 3: How do Hank and Tank feel about their connection with the audience?
Whatever you want. Please. Whatever you need. Done. Done. Done and done. We'll get it. We'll get someone hiding the camera. He won't even see it coming. He'll never see it coming.
i i would love to see that happen please do listen this bash is a big uh event for nxt normally it would be a pay-per-view or a ple but this is it's a ple on free tv it's on the cw basically if you have a tv in the united states you kind of get the cw This is a big moment for NXT to showcase their talent. I know you're not on the show. That's okay.
We can't all be on everything, but talk to me about bigger picture. What type of opportunity this is for the brand and for the rest of the locker room to perform on the CW.
Absolutely. If I may, Hank, if I may, we had the honor of being with HBK out of New York kind of when we made this announcement that not only Great American Bash, but pretty much for the foreseeable future, our premium live events of NXT are going to all be on the CW. And it was really cool hearing the GOAT, our boss, talk about how this is very similar to how things were when he was coming up.
When there wasn't a hundred different streaming services that you had to pay all of these fees just to get this one PLE and hope that the next one would still be on there. It wasn't always like that. And a lot of our generation doesn't know that. We're just used to shelling out our credit card and paying for another subscription service. So this is kind of old school in a realm.
And it's really amazing that it's available for everybody because that means that the platform has never been bigger. You know, one of the things that makes NXT so special is that it's a bunch of hungry dogs. And we all know that hungry dogs run faster. Everybody in this building has something to prove. Everybody in this building wants to be on Raw or SmackDown.
And that means they are going out there to make somebody notice them. And that is, as we know, if you don't know, PLEs is where it happens. Those are the biggest matches ever. with the culminating storylines, and that's where people go for the big moves. That's where people take the risks, and that's where people turn eyes.
And not only is The Great American Bash available free on the CW in the U.S., it's also available on Netflix worldwide. Guys, would you hang out for another segment with me? Because I have some more questions for you that I'd love to pick your brain on. Sure.
It'd be an honor. Let's go.

Chapter 4: What are the signature moves of Hank and Tank?
We wanted to be able to slam with them. They are a hard hitting promotion and we brought that heat. We were able to win their tag titles over there. It was an honor. It was an amazing experience. But a story I'd like to share with you because it was something we were talking about, the evolution of the Honk Honk. After, you know, maybe our second title defense, third title defense over there.
We've been there for about, you know, two weeks now. One of the translators pulls aside after a match and is asked us, so Hank Tank, Honk Honk is... Let's go. Translation is let's go. And we're like, well, yeah, that's not exactly energy. It's like, yeah, we're bringing the energy, but it's not like we're saying let's go.
It's like a semi, like a semi truck when it's driving down the road and you're a kid and you see it and you just lift your hand and be like, come on, do the horn, do the horn. You know, road trips. Honk, honk. And then the translator looked at us like.
what what we were like what do you mean what do you mean truck truck make honk honk and we're like what do you mean what do we mean the truck the trucks go honk honk it's like the most universal road tripping tradition that every kid has experienced ever and she was like well first of all like nobody really drives here everyone takes public transit and we're like okay well if somebody was driving and they saw a truck what would it say and she's like maybe beep beep or two we're like
Are we about to go into our next match and get in the corners all fired up after laying forearms and kicks all day and going toot toot? And we did it. We stuck with the honk honk. It was a little humbling. We went back to, you know, no one really saying it with us for the time while we were there. But that's okay because we're still laying it in afterwards and getting the collision course.
But, yeah, that was an interesting one to realize, oh, it just simply doesn't translate. Of all the things we didn't think were going to translate over to Japan, we didn't even think about the honk honk. If you would have asked us before, we would have been like, well, they have trucks over there, so sure. Everyone has trucks. Everyone knows Hong Kong. It's everywhere.
It's the universal language.
Nope. No, sir. No, sir. Guys, American wrestlers want to wrestle in Japan. Japanese wrestlers want to wrestle in America. Do you have a sense of pride that you were able to go over there in a hard-hitting Japanese pro wrestling company, win their championships, and add that to the list that I'm sure will grow in the near future?
Yeah, absolutely. For sure. It's a badge of honor. We wear for sure, especially, you know, learn exactly what you said. People want to get over in Japan. People want to travel the world and do what we do. And unfortunately, not everyone gets the chance to do that. Yeah. And just like, you know, just like rock and roll, just like music.
