New champion, retain the championship, or a return? We discuss right now on the Busted Open Podcast. This is the Busted Open Podcast. Sami Zayn wins the undisputed WWE Championship, Bully. You know, at Night of Champions in Saudi. He got a nice pop from the crowd on SmackDown on Friday night, which was taped immediately after Monday Night Raw last week here in New Jersey in Atlantic City. But the rematch is happening. Adam Pearce, who is now, at least for right now, the general manager of both Raw and SmackDown because of the confrontation with Nick Aldis and Gunther, made the decision that there will be a rematch.
And the rematch is happening tonight on Raw in Chicago. So... I think everybody feels good for Sami Zayn. Sami Zayn for 10 years has been chasing a championship. He finally wins that championship. But, Bully, I'll ask you straight up. Is there any chance Sami Zayn comes out of Monday Night Raw tonight holding that championship?
It's professional wrestling. So, yes, there is a small percentage of a chance that Sami comes out. Because the predictable thing is what, Dave? Cody. I'll throw out the predictable scenario. It's so predictable that you could probably tell me the whole scenario and exactly how it's going to play out.

Yeah, because this is how I think it's going to play out. Now, that doesn't mean it's going to happen. And if it does happen, it doesn't mean it's a bad thing. but obviously that undisputed championship is a championship that we see not on Raw, but on SmackDown, right? So, number one, why are we seeing Sami Zayn versus Cody Rhodes on Raw and not on SmackDown?
I can give you some logic behind that. All right, go ahead. Adam Pearce. Adam Pearce's loyalty is to Monday Night Raw. He's just filling in for Nick Aldis because Nick Aldis put his hands on Gunther. So, it's not like Pearce is going to come over here and go... well, you know, I'm going to be fair. I like SmackDown better. Nope. He's going to want that match on his show.
I love the logic because it is logical. Hey, even though I'm filling in for Nick, SmackDown's not my show. Raw is. So I get to make the decision. So I'm going to decide for this big match that everybody wants to see. You know what? I'm going to put it on Monday Night Raw, on the show that I'm loyal to. But if you look at it from a distance, the match is on Raw. Raw just happens to be in Chicago. We're less than a month away from SummerSlam. We don't know a match for SummerSlam when it comes to that Undisputed Championship. Do we possibly see the return of CM Punk tonight on Monday Night Raw since they are in Chicago? And the last time we saw Cody and Punk together in the ring was the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 42 where they planted the seed of a match.
So I'm thinking Sammy versus Cody. Cody beats Sammy, wins that championship back, and then we see the return of CM Punk, which sets up Punk Cody for SummerSlam in the beginning of August. Your thoughts?
Now, I would have said the exact same thing that you just said. That's how predictable it is. But as you said, even though it's predictable and it could play out just like that, Anything wrong with it? Not at all.
What are the implications of the rematch between Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes?
If you're telling me, man, you're getting Seth Rollins versus Roman Reigns. You're getting Oba Femi versus Brock Lesnar. You're getting Cody Rhodes versus CM Punk. I mean, can you think of three bigger matches you could possibly have at SummerSlam than those three?
And since all three of those matches will not be on just one night, it makes both nights must-see. All of those matches, for a different reason for each one, I want to see all of those matches. So is there, in your opinion, is there anything that they can do tonight that's not so predictable? I'm not talking about keeping the championship on Sammy. And we're going to get into a conversation about transitional champion and whether or not this, if Sammy does lose, whether or not it was good for him to be a transitional champion.
