Chapter 1: What is the main focus of the episode?
Welcome to the Busted Open Podcast. This is Dave LaGreca. On today's episode, myself and Bully Ray talk Monday Night Raw. Seth Rollins, Braun Breaker, or is it Steiner? And Jacob Batu and Roman Reigns. We break it all down right now on the Busted Open Podcast.
This is the Busted Open Podcast. What did you think about Jacob and Roman's face-to-face? I liked it a lot more than Seth Rollins and Braun Breaker's face-to-face. I agree. What did you think of Jacob's level of believability on the microphone? I love it. I really was... I was more into it this week than I was last. Agreed.
There is... You know, because we had those questions about this matchup and about Jacob Fatu being a world champion. And again, I know this is a word that we use a lot here on Busted Open, especially you and I, real. Like...
what Jacob is saying is real I love the fact that he's not trying to be like I want to be the head of the table or I want to be the no he's like I want to feed my family like for 12 years I struggled in this business and was making no money and I never thought I'd get the opportunity to be in the WWE and by the way you didn't help me like you could have brought me in and you never did
So I thought all this time, was I good enough? Could I do it?

Chapter 2: How did Jacob Fatu's promo compare to Seth Rollins and Braun Breaker's?
Am I ever going to get the opportunity? And now that he's got it, Bully, and he knows that time is ticking because Father Time has never been defeated. It's undefeated. I want to make as much money as I possibly can for me and my family. Like, that's as real as real could be, Bully. Not this bullshit, you know... Pro wrestling jargon.
This is like, hey, man, I got a wife and kids to feed, and I need to make as much money as possible.
So if you got two guys, if you got Jacob full-blown in Roman's face, and you got Oba on the outskirts, where we heard Oba talk about...
roman in the wrestlemania uh post uh press conference yes would you say that jacob and oba are the two biggest threats to roman right now yes there's really nobody else right unless randy no not randy no forget about randy uh that's punk and and uh and cody with with oba and jacob
If you were part of the creative process and one of those two guys were to dethrone Roman, Roman said he'll be around for the summer. Yes. Which leads me to believe that he won't be around in the fall, you know? I hope he is. But it leads me to believe he won't be around in the fall. So maybe let's just say at SummerSlam he has to drop the championship. Who does he drop it to, Jacob or Oba?
It's a really good question because it goes a little deeper from last night because there was a name that was mentioned that I wasn't expecting to be mentioned, and that was Solo. Solo Soko was mentioned in that promo.
He dismissed Solo.

Chapter 3: What makes Jacob Fatu's story relatable and authentic?
Yeah, like both of them did. Actually, Jacob acknowledged Solo like, hey, the guy who brought me in was Solo. As much as we've had our differences, Solo was the guy that brought me in. That's why when I first came, I acknowledged Solo. Bully, when I heard that, I was like, thank you. Because I'm thinking, well, why won't Jacob acknowledge Roman, but he acknowledged Solo? Well, now it makes sense.
Solo was the one that brought him in. So I'm going to acknowledge Solo. I'm not going to acknowledge you. You had nothing to do with it. And then Roman just dismissed Solo like he meant it. Man, he can't even order a cup of coffee in this place. I have a feeling, like we talked about the bloodline, if done right, they could heat this back up again. But with different players. With Solo.
With Jacob Fatu. When Roman was on top before, they only got to a certain level. Jacob and Solo, if done right, could be major players. That's why your question is a difficult one. If you asked me that question yesterday, before what I heard last night, that's an easy one. Obafemi. But now, because of what I saw last night, it's a more difficult question for me to answer.
Give me an example of what you mean when you say, if done right.
Meaning that this story isn't going to just end at backlash.
but can you give me some kind of specific i.e jacob and solo get on the same page yes and so solo reminds jacob of what jacob said remember what you said in the promo remember i said that i was the guy that brought you in remember what i did for you this guy's burying me saying i can't get a cup of coffee you know the real deal jacob you know where your loyalty i mean something to that effect
Yeah, and then you have this first family of Roman Reigns and the Usos, and then you have Jacob Fatu solo and Jeff Cobb and all those other players going up against one another.
And if you go back to the opening of Raw last night with Roman in the middle, Jimmy in the J, like good and evil on his shoulders, the last line that Roman said... was something about the royal family or the only royal family. He made reference to something family.
Yeah, if Paul can check on that and... Dang it. Was it like the first family?

Chapter 4: Who are the biggest threats to Roman Reigns currently?
I mean, on SmackDown, when I see Jacob, and I know they're pushing Jacob, and I get it, but when I see him beating up three MFT guys, I'm like, it's not like it's the big show beating up three normal-sized men. He took them all out. He took them all out. Am I to believe that one Samoan in Jacob Fatu is good enough to take out a Jeff Cobb and two crazy Tongan guys?
I mean, it's a little ambitious. It's a little ambitious.
And last night, and again... With the WWE, and we know this with Cody, it depends where you are. Laredo, Texas was not behind Jacob Fatu last night. At all. They were clearly behind Roman. And Roman did a good job of playing off of that. Jacob Fatu got booed last night.
It goes back to the star power of, and Roman said, I haven't been in Texas. Forget about just Laredo. He goes, I haven't been in Texas in a long time. So if you're in Laredo, Texas, and you're getting a Monday Night Raw, and you're getting Roman Reigns with the championship strapped on his shoulder. He ain't getting booed. Nope.
Because Lord knows when Laredo's ever going to get a chance to see that again. And it was proof positive when Jacob was out there.
Yeah, I thought it was really well done. And I thought Roman did a great job of playing off of it. And that's fine. He's like, you know what?

Chapter 5: What is the significance of Oba Femi's open challenge?
I'm loved tonight, so I'm going to embrace it. Instead of ignoring it or doing the typical heel, like making fun of the city, you know, Becky Lynch did that earlier in the night, and I understand why she did it. Roman played off of it, which I thought was perfect. So it was the first family, he said.
The first family.
Chapter 6: How does Oba Femi's victory over Brock Lesnar impact his future?
Again, Paul's talking to me without talking. Paul, please talk.
I can play the audio.
Okay, thank you. Go ahead.
Okay, stand by.
It's actually, it happened during the cold open of the show.
I saw love and respect, too. Man, family first, Zeus. The first family.
All right, so that's what they're going with, the whole first family. So, you know, maybe Jacob and Solo have an issue with that.
I'm not sure. I just remembered that he made reference to that first family thing, and I'm not sure how it's going to come into play.
It's going to come back into play. They did it in a cold open, and they ended it, and all three of them stared into the camera. I have a sneaky suspicion that's going to be their tag moving forward is the first family.

Chapter 7: What strategies can keep Oba Femi relevant after his big win?
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
WWE is hoping at Backlash they get something really strong from Jacob and Roman that will catapult them farther into the story.
And again, this is where, Bully, you can't react too crazy on one night. Because, again, going back to our social media conversation, if you just go by what you saw last night, your heads would be on fire. Oh, my God, Jacob's not the guy. Look at how these fans reacted tonight. Look at social media. No, stick to your plan.
Because next Monday night could be completely different than what we got last night in Laredo. So... And Roman's a star, man. People are going to react that way to Roman because he's a fucking star. As much as we love Jacob, Jacob is not on the level of Roman Reigns.
Not even close.
So, you know, stars are going to get the star treatment. Now... I want to get into before. We only got about five, six minutes left in the show. As good as I like that segment is how much I disliked the segment with Seth Rollins and Bron Breaker. It just didn't grab me. And I can't put my finger exactly on it. Maybe you can, Bully. It just didn't. It seems so disconnected.
Yeah.
As well as Jacob and Roman. played off the crowd. Last night, I felt like Seth Rollins and Bron Breaker was expecting a different reaction from the crowd, and they didn't know how to play off of it.
The thing that stuck in my mind the most was the use of the name. I don't think I brought this up on the show. Maybe I brought it up on After Dark one time. I don't remember, but I do know that I have been thinking this for a while. I don't think the breaker name, I think it's true. Not that it's corny. It's just, we know who Braun breaker is. He's a Steiner.

Chapter 8: How does the discussion about Oba Femi reflect on the current wrestling landscape?
I was like, oh, wow, they're bringing this up. That's good. I'm hoping that he gets away from that Breaker name. That's just my personal opinion. Do you like? Do you dislike?
First of all, I think they should have done that since day one. It's kind of like you would call Charlotte Flair something else. Charlotte McGillicuddy.
You know you would do that? Rick and Scott are now on good terms with the WWE. I'm not quite sure if when Braun started that they were on as good of terms as they are now. So maybe the WWE didn't want to acknowledge the Steiner name then? Maybe... Maybe they do something now. Because why you would... First of all, it's not the real name. The real last name is Rex Steiner. R-E-C-H Steiner.
Which is a cool sounding name, by the way. You know, Braun Breaker sounds so fake. It sounds so made up. It sounds 80s WWE. It really does. And I would love it if Braun Breaker... Cut a promo on Raw next week and says, you know what? I'm not Braun Breaker. I'm Rex Steiner.
I could almost hear it, Vince, in the background. My God, coming to the ring right now, Braun Breaker, Jesse. What do you think he's going to break tonight? That's that kind of name.
Yeah, I would just have him cut a real promo where he says, you know what? Enough of this Pro Wrestling 101. I'm... This is who I am. I'm a Steiner. It's who I've always been. It's what I am. And now that's what I'm going to go by. And I think fans, it's just... Last night, and Seth too, by the way. It just felt like so scripted in Wrestling 101. But it is. I know, but...
They didn't make me believe otherwise. Now listen, Jacob fought too and Roman might have been scripted too. But when I listened to it, it didn't sound scripted because it's real.
Jacob's story is real. They could have taken a pencil to paper and wrote a scripted promo for Jacob Fatu, but the words on the paper were the real-life story. The only thing he really didn't say is, I grinded for 12 years, meaning I paid my dues and grinded on the Indies for 12 years. I got eight kids to feed, whatever it is. He gave us the bullet points of his struggle.
That's why it was real, as opposed to just writing promos for characters and putting words in their mouth, and that's why it came across the way it did last night. That's why I want to get into the real era of wrestling.
