Dave LaGreca 0:00
Welcome to the Busted Open Podcast. This is Dave LaGrecka. On today's episode, myself and Bully Ray Talk, Monday Night Raw in Philly, and the epic ending between Roman Reigns and CM Punk. We dissect, we deliver right here on the Busted Open Podcast. This is the Busted Open Podcast. I gotta give a little credit to CM Punk and Roman Reigns last night 'cause you talk about two guys getting it done. Bully. Listen, I like the rumble. You thought the rumble was? Good.
Bully Ray 0:41
Nobody is going to change my mind. The rumble was g and this is why I asked you that very specific question about taking AJ and Gunther out of the show. And you went B minus, which I thought was very nice of you. Yeah, you go more C, right? More of a C grade from you. Yes. And and we talked about, you know, you you had asked me about Roman and, you know, how do I feel about Roman winning the rumble? And it's like I It it's not shocking to me. I get it. Roman wins the rumble. He's once again going to be in a main event of WrestleMania. I think this is like his ninth or tenth main event at WrestleMania. Like he's been in the spotlight at the biggest show uh, you know, for a long time. So I'm not shocked. What my biggest point was from yesterday leading into today was, all right, let's see who he's going to choose.
Bully Ray 1:39
He's most likely gonna choose punk, and then what we get what we get last night. Now, in my opinion, we really have something to talk about.
Dave LaGreca 1:48
Yeah, and they gave us something to talk about. Bully by talking. You know, having two of your biggest stars in the ring, having a segment like they had to end Monday Night Raw last night. I think more, and and this is where I'll agree with you. I think even more than what we saw on Saturday with the Royal Rumble, what punk. And Roman did last night is they set the bar for everybody else to try to follow, but they sold you on WrestleMania. You now know the biggest match at WrestleMania, the biggest main event is gonna be Roman Reigns against CM Punk. I can't see anything coming close to what those two are gonna be able to do, not only from last night, but the weeks to follow until we get to Lost. Las Vegas and WrestleMania forty two.
Dave LaGreca 2:37
And
Bully Ray 2:38
I I wanna mention this so I don't forget it because that that back and forth last night I think lasted about uh I don't know, ten minutes or so. But there was one word that resonated with me so much. And it's this one word. It's one Of two words that the entire wrestling business has been built on from day one. And it was uttered last night and I was so glad it was said. And uh do you wanna know the word now or do you wanna wait till we get to the promo?
Dave LaGreca 3:20
I wanna wait until after the promo because we're gonna play most of the promo. We're gonna do uh the quintessential start and stop of the promo because and we're used to seeing this, especially with CM Punk. You get a little realism in the conversation. I think that's what Why we love punks so much is But what I loved about it before we we listen in is the way that Roman stepped up to the conversation. And I don't know if we've seen that in the WWE. We saw it in AEW with MJF. I thought MJF stepped up to CM Punk. And it led to what I think is maybe the greatest feud. in AEW history, which is C M Punk and MJF. Roman stepped up to CM Punk. We've seen other people try. Seth Rollins tried to do it, but I think that was the first time successfully since CM Punk has come back that somebody has been able to step up verbally with Punk.
Dave LaGreca 4:24
Before
Bully Ray 4:25
Roman started his last thought, his closing thought of the night before he walked away. Punk was getting the better of Roman. He really was to the point I was like, Woof, how does he come back from this? And then we hear, remember, it's all about the finish. And Roman closed very, very strong. And there's one thing about punk. has something in his tone, in his voice. You know, anger in the wrestling business, and that's not the word that I want to harp on. Anger.

Why does Roman Reigns winning the Royal Rumble matter for the WrestleMania main event?

Bully Ray 5:08
Punk delivers anger in a genuine way. Yes. Because I I believe Punk is an angry person on the inside. Whether it was his personal life from back in the day and the hardships of growing up
