Justin, I want to talk to you about um Maxwell Jacob Friedman, MJF. I told you during the Super Bowl, I saw a number of his interviews, and it wasn't the pull my finger, tell a joke. He wasn't a guy that was insult the insult comic dog. He actually was going into Ross Tucker's podcast, NFL podcast, and really doing a great job of promoting, obviously himself because he's the champion, but definitely putting over AEW.
Talking about the difference between AEW and WWE. So this time around, I've been very impressed by MJF on the interviews that he's done and really insightful stuff as usual. But I'm wondering about him as champion. Because we talk about shades of gray or trying to figure out you know who MJF is. I went back and watched um Grand Slam Australia and watched that matchup against Brody King that MJF had. And you heard some people in Sydney like, Come on, Max, let's go. You heard some of the fans rooting for Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Now he will he will always talk about the guy that will always insult us. He will always insult us the fan. throw gum at us, talk about us, all that. But you cannot deny the in-ring.
And what I really liked is that that was a fresh match against Brody King. Textbook 1975, 1985. You go in that matchup, he's a smaller guy against a big guy, takes the leg out of Brody King, and becomes the theme of the match. And it was a good back and forth. Brody King tried to come out from underneath, trying to be able to get some um near falls, but because of the leg. That was the theme. MJF was able to get the heat seeker one, two, three. I'm like, that's really well done. And it made me think. Justin, there's gotta be some more fresh matches this time around for MJF. Look, we're gonna get hangman page and MJF. It's like Brother. Seen that before. And there's a big stip there. I don't know why that stip is taking place, but Hangman Page talking about uh uh his um spic uh his stipulation at revolution, we'll get to in a little bit, but MJF.
Do you we have some names in which you'd like to see MJF defend his championship?
Well, uh obviously it was uh teased a little bit was teased in what they showed on collision that was filmed at House of Glory. I mean I mean they brought back El Idolo. D E W and they have booked him with um W with a lot of confidence and some big wins. And so obviously that's a fresh opponent. Now again I and and It's hard to remember because there's so much. I don't remember if Andrade and MJF ever crossed paths and Andrade's previous tenure in AEW, but in terms of fresh Of now. This MJF and this champion. Um That would be something I would I would be interested to see in again. It's not just Oh, here's a here's a new guy, or here or here's a fresh guy on the roster. Here's a guy that I mean, again, Andra Andrade has had some big wins in the last few weeks, one after another.
And so you're building some momentum with him. Of course you think about selling the match on the microphone. Um You know MJF won't shy away from Some material of how Andrade went back to WWE and now he's back here. However, MJF words it or phrases it, but that thy that punch line that'll get a reaction out of an audience. So, you know, not the not in any particular order, but I'll just throw out first the first name would be Andrade El Idolo.
So uh Elito sees MJF walks away and then hang and then Elizabeth says this MFR. Money. So uh If I understand Elitolo perfectly, he's saying, Why are you wrestling an indie guy? when you should be wrestling me. Is that pretty much what he said it? Like, why are you coming to the indies to wrestle when I'm right here in AEW? Yeah, essentially. Yes, that's what he's saying. Okay. All right. I thought that was interesting. So he'd be on the top of my list as well.
