Today’s conversation is with Chris Mota, Coach at Unit 4 CrossFit in Glasgow. We delve into an Athlete’s hierarchy of needs and how we can review these different needs to make a functional diagnosis on how we can improve training performance as well as prevent injuries or other challenges. Chris discusses some of the common pains and complaints including lower back and knee which often come from an imbalance of strength across the body. We cover 3 common imbalances including left to right pressing, single leg strength and upright pulling. Within each of these, Chris shares tests you can do to identify any imbalances, movements you can introduce to improve them, and some general guidelines for how strong you should be on certain movements versus others. Lastly, we look at how to adjust programming to tackle these issues and how you can take action moving forward.
