15 Dec 2022

Description

Our guest on this week’s episode is Sara Lou. Sara is a breast cancer rebel and began writing during the dark days of chemotherapy, posting her work to Instagram. She developed a following and has since been featured in Psychology Today, Cancer Wellness Magazine & Wildfire Magazine. Sara also co-founded The Bloom Club which is a safe space for young women who have experienced cancer. They offer experiences, events, and retreats for the young cancer community. We talk through Sarah’s experience getting diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and when she first felt the lump in her breast. We also discuss the importance of creating community within the cancer space so that nobody feels alone in their thoughts. Sarah opens up about how her mental health was affected by chemo, why that moved her to start writing and how her writings helped her to communicate with her friends and family who haven’t experienced cancer.
