Ageing and Cancer

Ageing is a normal process of human evolution. India which once was the youngest country in the world would become the oldest country going forward. What's the connection? Since we talk about cancer, it is important for us to know that as we age, the probability of getting cancer increases. Among people over the age of 65 years, there is an 11-fold increased incidence of developing cancer as compared to younger individuals. In the last 30 years, the incidence of cancer has increased 26% in > 65 year-old population as compared with a 10% increase in the population < 65 years. The phenomenon could seem scary but if we follow some basic things, we may protect ourselves and our families from big sufferings. We have discussed Cancer in Geriatric population in this episode.
