My general take on the situation is that West, and I think before we get into it and before everyone starts flooding in with the comments below, et cetera, understand this question and this concept first. does or do the West Indies
have an elite T20 bowling attack?
Chapter 2: Do the West Indies have an elite T20 bowling attack?
Do we have a T20 bowling attack that covers all bases in the international game? Do we have a T20 bowling attack that can go to the 2026 T20 World Cup and really make head waves? I've long been of the opinion, and obviously I was out in Florida for the two T20 games against Pakistan, one of the T20 games versus Australia at Sabah in the Park, literally just last month.
And for me, some of the obvious deficiencies within the West Indies bowling attack were clear for all to see. We have issues at the death. We do not have any clear, identifiable death bowlers who you can rely on. We've got issues up front in the power play in terms of having clear, obvious wicket-taking bowlers. And we've got...
inconsistencies with some bowlers where you're never quite sure what you're going to get right so before i started this episode the first thing i actually did was i was like oh sorry we have no leg spinner which most top international teams do So before I started this episode, I actually wrote down, what is West Indies' current best T20 bowling lineup?
Chapter 3: What are the current best T20 bowlers for West Indies?
And I am not saying that... What I'm about to say to you, I'm not trying to say that this is definitive, right? I'm not trying to say that this is it. And by all means, if you disagree, please get in the comments below and say, actually, Mash, I don't agree with that. I don't think that's what West Indies' best T20 bowling attack is. But this is what I've got down. Akil Hussain.
Gudakesh Moti, Alzari Joseph, Jason Holder. That's four. Romario Shepard or Shamar Joseph. That's five.
Chapter 4: Who are the potential bowlers in the West Indies depth chart?
And then Roston Chase is six. There's potentially an argument that is Roston Chase or a Mario Shepard. But that's effectively right now as things stand. I think that's your six bowlers that would go into your standard West Indian T20 international fixture. I'm not saying that that, well, no, I am saying that that is not a winning bowling attack.
That bowling attack will not take you to a T20 World Cup final. I'm not even sure if it'll take you to a T20 semifinal, right? But it's serviceable. So what I started to say to myself was in watching the first 14, 15 games of CPL this year, I was like, but who's in reserve? Who's in our depth chart?
Chapter 5: What role does CPL play in identifying new talent?
Right. And I guess this is really what I want people to think about when you're analyzing this episode and you put your comments below in the episode. Rather than focusing so much on I don't agree with this person being in West Indies first choice top six bowlers in T20. We're looking at the depth chart right across CPL. And here's the thing. I'll kind of give you a disclaimer now.
It's slim pickings, people. where we are starving out there. And let me also say this, and this is where I cuss out CPL. CPL is not helping West Indies cricket in so much as, yes, Breakout League players have been selected this year.
Chapter 6: How can the performance of Jadon Seals impact the team?
Yes, 18 of the players that played in Breakout League have got CPL contracts this year. But when you go from team to team to team to team, How many of these breakout quote unquote youngsters are first choice players? How many of these breakout quote unquote youngsters are guaranteed even four games? Four might even be too many. How many are guaranteed three games in CPL this year?
So this video isn't even about let's try and identify some really talented youngsters because what's the point? Bowling we're talking about. What's the point? They barely play anyways.
Chapter 7: What are the challenges faced by Obed McCoy in the T20 format?
Yes, a man's probably going to get in the comments below and say, oh, Kion Gaston's an example of one. Kion Gaston ain't anywhere near West Indies international quality yet. So allow him, allow him, leave Keon Gaston out of the conversation.
This video is about who realistically in the depth chart can put pressure on what I think is the first choice six in West Indies, in West Indies internationals. Can I just say something, by the way, it was pointed out to me, I'll withhold the name of who told me this information earlier on today, but I was, I received a message today and someone said to me, Matt, do you realise that,
that Judea Blades played a T20 international for the West Indies before he even played a game in CPL. Oh, Bomberclad. Oh, Rasklad. Ain't that a shocking indictment of CPL? A man played a T20 international for West Indies before they even played a game in CPL.
Chapter 8: What does the future hold for West Indies cricket's bowling options?
Let me just double check because some people drag me. If I've got that information wrong, you best believe that some people drag me if I've got it wrong. So let me just go double check that that information is 100% correct. Bear with me, people, because I want to make sure. What team does this man even play for? Does he play for?

So Judea Blades is playing for Guyana, Amazon Warriors. He's played one game so far, but 3.1 overs, took two wickets for 35, economy 11.5, right? So he's played one game for Guyana. Yeah, correct. Right, so Judea Blades...
has played four T20 internationals for the West Indies before he played one CPL game. What a shocking indictment of CPL. You could say it's also a shocking indictment of the West Indies selection system, but this proves my point. Youngsters ain't even getting a chance in CPL, and we're having to do flipping diamond in the rough hunting, like we're in Leonardo DiCaprio in Blood Diamond.
We're looking for the one diamond in the rough and saying, boy, let's just try to polish this thing and just see what we can do. Ain't that a shocking indictment of everything, right? Anyways, that's Judea Blades. Judea Blades... From my honest opinion, he should have been nowhere near the West Indies T20 side. But it is what it is. There's a dearth of left arm seamers that can deliver.
So Blades got fast tracked. It is what it is, right? But anyways, let's get back to the depth chart. I've identified four bowlers. That's it. I went through all the CPL teams. I went through all the footage of what I've seen so far and watched back and went back and looked at stuff.
And I've identified only four bowlers in CPL that I think you could add to a West Indies T20 international side depth chart. I'm not even sure you can make an argument to say they get straight into the team. I've only identified four. And this is who they are. Number one, Jadon Seals. Obviously, Jadon Seals' limited overs bowling has improved massively.
We've just seen him be destructor-in-chief against Pakistan in the ODI series. Consequently, Jadon Seals' ODI numbers have fallen massively in terms of his averages, wickets taken, etc., etc., which is great stuff. Great stuff to see. Really happy for Jadon Seals. It appears to be coming off for him, right? Just trying to find... So far in CPL, Jadon Seals has taken five wickets.
