Why do hard seasons feel like personal failure and how can we recognize they’re not?

Victoria (Tori) Gass 0:10
Good morning, good morning. Did you miss me last week? I'm sorry I did not show. We had a chaotic week and this week we're gonna do a little bit of a switcheroo. We're gonna open the word today and we're sitting it together for quite a while because I think If you're anything like me, you're probably carrying something heavy right now. I think we all have something, right? Maybe it's your homestead. Maybe it feels like it's falling apart. Maybe your soil is rough or your garden failed again. Your animals aren't making it. Maybe it has nothing to do with the farm at all and everything to do with maybe the season of life you're walking through. Mistakes happen. Mistakes are real. Seasons can be super hard. And that feeling that you just can't catch up no matter how hard you try, it's so real. And I think God has something to say about all of it because I know he has been working on me the last couple of weeks. And so today we're going to let him. We're inviting him into this. And I'm just praying for you right now that Holy Spirit is just flowing through me straight to you into your ears exactly what you need to hear.
Victoria (Tori) Gass 1:14
And that you know, no matter how hard it's getting or it feels, that you are his. He's still there. And he is faithful. So let's dive deep in today, okay? I'm not going to do any ads. We're not going to have anything crazy. This is just something that I feel needs to just be out there. So let's do it. Welcome to Chickens and Farming Made Easy. We're going to talk about the Bible. I'm Tori Gass. I'm your host. I have a homestead here in Roswell, New Mexico. And I am... a woman who has made more than her fair share of mistakes on the farm and in life, and I am so glad you are here today. So before we get into the word, I just want you to go grab Bible. It's one thing to hear it from me, but I'll tell you what, opening up the word by yourself is so transforming for you, for your own faith, for your own relationship with our Father. Go get it. Go get it, girl. All right.
Victoria (Tori) Gass 2:13
All right, so we're going to talk about soil today. A few seasons ago, I made mistakes with our soil, and I want to tell you about it, okay? So we had a section in our garden that I really... I am such an ADHD girl, right? I want to mend things, but then I start something, and sometimes I don't always finish it. I know when stuff needs to be worked. I know when it's depleted. I know when... I need to start testing. And I had tested, I had the results. I knew what it needed. And I kept putting it off because there was always something that felt more urgent. Like the chickens need something, the kids need something, the house needs something. And so something that I thought that can wait, it waited, it waited a long time. And I planted it anyways, because the season was here and I felt behind and I just thought maybe it would be okay. You know,
Victoria (Tori) Gass 3:00
But it wasn't okay. And that section of the garden barely produced anything and like it would produce all the green but it had no nutrients so it didn't actually get any fruit. And I stood there in August and I just feel it, you know, that specific feeling of knowing you caused the problem and you're now standing in it. I know that feeling all too well and I bet you do too. Maybe it's literal soil and maybe it's a financial mistake that you made and you're still trying to recover from or maybe it's a relationship you let go way too long without tending to and maybe it's a dream you set down because life just gets loud and big and now you don't know how to even pick it back up and The details for every person are always going to be so different, right? But that feeling is the same. One thing that I always say is the worst thing that ever happened to you is that your dog died when you were three years old. Well, then that's the worst thing that ever happened to you. And that hurts. And that's a big feeling. But sometimes we cause things to happen to ourselves, right? So how do you fix it? How can it even be fixed? And today I want to answer that question from the word. And the answer is yes, you can fix it.
