Can sustainability and profitability go hand in hand?In the latest episode we are reviewing the latest H&M Group sustainability report for the 2025 year to find out how to link financial objectives with sustainability agenda. Sustainability requires considerable investment and new capabilities to be connected with the rest of the business model, and the road to get there is long and bumpy.With my guests - Piotr Oksza-Łapicki - Regional Public Affairs & Sustainability Manager H&M and Erik Lagerblad - CEO Looper Textile Co. - we are deep diving to the report to understand motivation, key initiatives of H&M Group and Looper Textile Co in order to explain how to read their latest data. We explore gas emissions reduction progress in the most difficult for apparel companies area - Scope 3. This is where material production and cloth manufacturing takes place - which compass for nearly 90% of the total emissions. We explain what are sustainably sourced materials and why recycled polyester is not the ultimate but still better option then the virgin polyester? Piotr also introduces the H&M Foundation which encountered a startups accelerator program - among the finalists for this year was also a Polish startup! Finally with Erik we can better understand the second hand processes based on Looper Textile and the impact of the latest EPR (Extended Producer Regulation) that is coming to EU countries - fashion companies will be responsible for collection and processing of fashion waste. This regulation is already working in France, Netherlands, Latvia.. Poland will be due soon.H&M Group bets on sustainability and puts this in the center of their business model, is a part of their mission with the expectations that customers would follow.
