Conduct Detrimental: THE Sports Law Podcast

Meet James Krause the UFC's Pete Rose, Arson Judge Signing, Missouri Sports Betting with State Senator Denny Hoskins

08 Dec 2022

Description

Welcome back to THE Sports Law podcast! The Dans keep you up to date with everything at the intersection of sports and the law. Missouri State Senator Denny Hoskins (@DLHoskins) joins to discuss sports gambling in Missouri. (10:40) Hoskins breaks down the landscape of sports gambling and his plan for legalization. The last bill failed because not every casino was in favor of the bill.   James Krause is a former UFC fighter and current coach who has made some illegal sports bets. (41:20) Krause had his corner license suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after gambling investigations began following suspicious betting activity. Trent Reinsmith (@TrentReinsmith), who is a writer for SB Nation Bloody Elbow, joins to discuss the story and the now sports betting probes. Before a fight on November 5 between Darrick Minner (coached by Krause) and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke, there was a large shift in the betting line when Nuerdanbieke moved from a -220 favorite to -420. In the first round of the fight, Nuerdanbieke capitalizes on an injury to Minner's leg, and the match was over a minute in. Ontario and Alberta have banned placing bets on the UFC as a result of this. *** Have a topic you want to write about? ANYONE and EVERYONE can publish for ConductDetrimental.com.
