Confessions of a Male Gynecologist

44: Semaglutide: Wonder Drug or Chemical Anorexia

26 May 2023

Description

Weight loss products are a magnet for controversy. From fraudulent claims to critics and copycats, everybody has an opinion. Today I'm talking about the one currently on everybody's mind, GLP-1 drugs like Ozemic and Mounjaro. There are a lot of people in the healthcare community, especially alternative health, who are demonizing these medications. And why? I think it's because they work and put some people out of business. While there are risks and potentially serious side effects, there's a lot of misinformation out there on these drugs. In this episode, I'm sharing how they work, the truth about the problems, what you need to know before taking them, and why I believe they are an excellent option for many women struggling to lose weight. Being on medication to lose weight doesn't mean you're cutting a corner. It means you need some assistance, and that's okay. Try not to get bogged down in the negativity, find yourself a doctor that's an expert with these medications, and feel good about yourself. Enjoy the episode!   Highlights Red flags around compounded semaglutide Why I'm ranting about the semaglutide offerings from some plastic surgeons My thoughts on the people out there shaming women for taking GLP-1s How Ozempic works Common reactions and risks associated with Ozempic Why you need to be on a good program alongside the medication Lifestyle strategies that can help you to maintain your weight loss The importance of working with a knowledgeable provider   Resources Dr. Tassone's Practice https://www.drshawntassone.com/ The Hormone Balance Bible https://tassonemd.com/hormone-balance-bible/ Hormone Archetype Quiz https://tassonemd.lpages.co/hormonearchetypequiz/   Disclaimer This podcast and website represent the opinions of Dr. Shawn Tassone and his guests.
