Courageous Journeys® ~ Impact & healing from childhood trauma

Healing Childhood Trauma - A Practice to Help You Become Aware of Your Needs

29 Mar 2024

Description

This episode originally aired on YouTube.  Honoring our needs and desires after experiencing childhood trauma is crucial to the healing journey, yet it often isn’t something that’s talked about. When we grow up in an environment of chaos, dysfunction or abuse, we get the message, often many times over years, that our needs don't matter. So as a means of survival, we disconnect from being able to recognize or voice our authentic needs and desires. But carrying that into adulthood and numbing ourselves to our needs and desires? That sets us up for a life of feeling unworthy and undeserving of having those needs met. It perpetuates the deep pain and meaning we took on from those childhood experiences. In this episode, I'll share a practice to help you gain more awareness. When we can acknowledge our needs and desires, even the ones that seem unreasonable or wildly impossible, we start rewiring those beliefs about unworthiness. Don’t want to wait for the next episode?
