Courageous Journeys® ~ Impact & healing from childhood trauma

Rewriting False Beliefs: How Childhood Trauma Informs Your Daily Thoughts

21 Feb 2025

Description

Not every thought we have is true. In fact, for survivors of childhood trauma, many of the thoughts we have are not based in truth. But, when we’ve grown up in difficult or unsafe environments, it can feel like they are. For childhood trauma survivors, core beliefs are often shaped by experiences of betrayal, pain, and/or neglect. And because these beliefs take root so early, they start to feel like facts. Thoughts like "I’m not enough" or "I don’t deserve good things" become automatic, influencing everything from self-worth to relationships to hobbies and career choices. In this video, I explore some of the complexities in not believing what you think and why challenging those deeply rooted beliefs is so important.Just as core beliefs were formed through repetition, they can also be changed through intentional practice. Healing takes time, but it’s possible to shift the narrative and to replace self-doubt with self-trust, and unworthiness with grounded confidence and self-compassion.What belief are you working toward dismantling? This episode originally aired on YouTube. Don’t want to wait for the next episode?
