I've been coaching the club for 10 years now and I've got to work out whether it's the right thing to continue on, which might sound a strange thing for me to say after we've just won a premiership. So, yeah, I've just got to work out whether I've still got the energy required to sort of, do that relentless responsibility and pressure that comes from being an AFL coach. And you don't really know what I'm talking about until you do it yourself.
But it overtakes your life. And I don't know whether I want to keep doing that or not.

Oh, I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I think he's, you know, I'm going to take that, man. He seems the most authentic person that perhaps has ever coached. So I'll take him at his word that he genuinely doesn't know. Yeah. If I had to guess, I'd guess that he's done. But I think there's a likely world that right here, right now, he just genuinely doesn't know. He's probably torn because he speaks about the desire to go out on top and not be escorted out of the Gabba. But you look at that list and you look at that group and you wonder how many more there are in there.

actually. That's right. So, I mean, but also, you know, does the pull of trying to help this Tasmanian franchise get off the ground? He's a Tasmanian. I spent some time with his brother, Grant, actually, who coached in Tasmania for a long time. And, you know, there's... maybe more pride in Tasmanians and their sport and their footy than there is in, in, in any other state in, in Victoria, they've got this us against the world mentality. So I wonder whether there's that desire and he'd be an amazing figure to be involved with that club as it tries to begin its, um, its pathway through the competition. So, um, It'll be a coveted job. I can give you the red hot tip.
Well, it'll be interesting if it was to be the case, Adam, because they've got two people within the organization you feel would be really good head coaches. One is Danny Daly, who always joins us here on Sunday Crunch Time. And the other one is Cam Bruce, who is held in the highest of regards when it comes to assisting coaches around the AFL. They do have two people within the Brisbane Lions that if Chris Fagan does decide to step away, they can slide in fairly seamlessly with a playing group who know exactly what those men do day in, day out.
Yeah, it's really impressive, Danny. Every time that we speak to him on SEN or you hear him speak, he's a really calm, influential figure at the Brisbane Lions and always speaks about his love for coaching and does have a desire to step up and take on the job one day. So maybe it is an easy transition for them if Chris Fagan is to step away. It did sound like... He was more leaning towards walking away than going again next year. I think, you know, take a couple of weeks. Don't make a decision in the next few days, Fates, after a couple of 4Xs. Just, yeah, go away. Even if, you know, even if he needs to refresh until January, Feb, if he, you know, takes some time away, go on holidays, they can take the preseason block, come back in Feb.
Because, I mean, why would you walk away now when you're on the cusp of, four, potentially five premierships in a row. He said you don't want to walk away after failing. You've got three in the back pocket.
It doesn't matter if you're
losing this year. Then you can go, okay, well, my time's done.
