Alternatively, fill a bowl with ice water and submerge your face up to your temples for 10 seconds. MEDITATION TECHNIQUES: DAY 1: VISUALIZATION Visualize yourself seated next to people who calm you. DAY 2: AFFIRMATION "My body is safe, and I am at peace." DAY 3: THE EXTENDED EXHALE BREATHING TECHNIQUE Inhale through your nose for a count of 4, feeling your belly expand. Hold gently at the top for a count of 4. Exhale slowly through pursed lips (like breathing through a straw) for a count of 8. Repeat for 3 to 5 cycles to instantly lower your heart rate and drop cortisol levels. How to do it: On both hands, bring the tips of your ring finger and pinky finger to touch the tip of your thumb. Keep your index and middle fingers extended straight out.
