Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
It's too late for me.
Chapter 2: What major news is affecting the AFL and its teams?
The disease I've got will kill me. I apologise for the way I talk, but it's part of the disease. It's a beast of a disease because there's no treatment and there's no cure. It doesn't kill you quick, it kills you slowly. It kills you out by slowly paralysing you. It'll get to a stage where I can't swallow, I can't speak, and I can't breathe. But you don't lie down.
It might get me, but I'm a fighter. Live with hope.
Chapter 3: How did Neale Daniher influence the AFL community?
Have a strong vision where you're going. My vision, closed off is the world without MND. I'll get there. I'm up at six foot under, but we'll get there. Thanks for listening.
I'm blessed with a blessing
What a human being. How he has just showed us how to fight. Rest in peace, Neil. To get your diagnosis, to be told you're going to have a short life expectancy, twice a month, for him to hear that and go, you know what? You bet your ass I'm not doing that. I'm going to fight. I'm going to fight because that's what I do. I'm going to fight and have a 13-year battle with this thing.
It can take away my ability to move and ability to speak, but it won't take away my fight.
What I'm going to celebrate is when we don't have an M&D day. We're going to nail it, move on and up some other people.
Welcome back to the Big Red Shed on the 27th of May. I think it'd be silly not to start and pay our respects to a great man, Neil Danaher. Rest in peace, Neil.

Chapter 4: What mistake did the AFL make that impacted the Pies' season?
Let's meet Neil. Our thoughts are with his family and we know Ben. Ben's a legend. We know Ben, so sending all our love to him and obviously the entire Donato family. But what an amazing, inspiring human being. When that news came through on Monday, I think everyone just felt really, obviously, super flat and upset hearing that news. Had a massive, massive 13-year fight with MND.
Got the diagnosis, was told they had 27 months to live. and just showed us that he is a fighter and he fought and fought and fought. And when he got diagnosed, he said, screw that, I'm fighting this thing. I know it's going to take my ability to move and walk and speak and it will kill me slowly, but there's always opportunity in this thing and that's for me to fight. And he did that.
So, congratulations on everything that you did and now you can rest in peace. And We can't wait. Obviously, we look forward to the big freeze every year, but now it's two weeks out. I think this will be the biggest one that we have.
Such a big reflection of his resilience and character to last that long, you know, and to just keep fighting and still stay positive the entire time.
To be that courageous, to know, okay, this thing's going to kill me. It just is. And then to make his whole purpose to find a cure, to raise $115 million for research into M&D, and then his goal is, well, I know it's going to kill me, but I'm going to help others who ā get the diagnosis, and they're going to have some hope, the hope that I didn't have. So what a fantastic human being.
And also our thoughts with Jai Arrow, who recently also got diagnosed with MND. That's sad. It's a horrible disease. I saw some articles, some news.
clip from Jairo with him and his daughter and he was just in tears being like this is just the worst because she's getting a good age and I'm losing my ability to hold her and stuff so it's all sad but our thoughts are with Neil and his family so once again rest in peace Neil and just on that my old footy coach who took us to the grand final in 2023
uh shane mayo madley um much loved person in carrara and broad beach he's just been diagnosed with uh mnd this year and he's um he's fighting the battle but he's staying strong but just want to share a lot of love to them yeah it's a thing i love yeah and to everyone who's going through in their families as well it's a it's a horrible disease so we're thinking of you yeah we're thinking of you um all right well let's talk about something that might make some people happier in here
New York?

Chapter 5: How did the recent coaching changes affect team dynamics?
New York Knicks, going to the finals.
Going to the finals, that's big. Does anyone go for them in here?
Me and Moff actually go for them, yeah.
Really?
Yeah. Up and about? I've been a big Knicks fan since before we got Amari Stoddermeyer. So I went through the whole Linsanity project and then, you know, we had Steve Novak doing the discount double check and then Carmelo Anthony came in and we beat the Bulls in the first round of the playoffs. It's just...
It's been a really cool time, especially the last three years where we got Jalen Brunson over and he's just really shifted the franchise to a team that actually is considered to be one of the top ends in the league. They've done well.
Big sweep of them. New York goes crazy. Do you ever see the scenes? They're going to burn the city down.
Oh, man. What is it? Time Out New York? Yeah, Side Talk New York. They absolutely go crazy. A couple of years ago, I reckon they really took off when it was the Fuck Trae Young chants and they were just going like, Fuck Trae Young, fuck Trae Young.
They set fires in the street, like sand on buildings, like loot. It's like it's Swan Street when Richmond are playing. They just go nuts after a game.

Chapter 6: What are the implications of the upcoming Round 12 matches?
Well, the best thing about it is for the New York, we've just gone 4-0, 4-0, and then rolled right into this one. Not 4-0, sorry, the first one, but 4-0 this one. And then now we get so much time off and the Spurs and OKC are battling against each other and they're so injured. Like they're just losing players every single contest.
It's a big effort. It's like Carlton making grand finals, isn't it?
That's what I was going to ask. Who are the Knicks in footy terms?
Or Essendon?
Well, the Knicks have made the Eastern Conference finals last year and got really close the year before to being a really good team.
So I don't know.
Maybe someone who's had a lot of hope and desire in the last couple of years but also needed it for the last 20. That would be the comparison. I wouldn't say Essendon because Essendon haven't gone there. Carlton. Got a prelim. Got a prelim. When they're in that prelim era, that would be the comparison, I reckon.
I did see a stat, and I don't know how true this is, but apparently crime has gone down 78% during games.
It's great. It's a city that comes together. Why stab each other in steel when we can watch the game together? And then when the final quarter ends... get back to just climbing again. Yeah. It's great.

Chapter 7: How do injuries impact team performance in the AFL?
So that was like the peak drama. But just to go through 4-0, it's so good. Yeah. And so humble too.
Yeah.
Which is good. We're allowed to have this. You actually are. If you haven't been there for a long time, you're allowed to be as arrogant as you want.
Maybe the Knicks are like Hawthorne.
Yeah. Well, no. Yeah. I think they're definitely Carlton. A bit of housekeeping. So the team that we found, the Brighton women's team, we thought they were in Brighton, Victoria. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. They're in Brighton, Tasmania. Got that wrong. Apologies. We were fully planning to go down next week as well. Yes. Yep.
Oh, this week. Sorry.
Yep. Then we got in touch with the Brighton team. Like, hey, I think you've got the wrong state. Sure enough, wrong state. That's in Tassie.

Chapter 8: What strategies are teams employing to adapt to player changes?
But we're thinking of you.
Yeah. And maybe we could.
We're definitely thinking of you. Not right now.
We're not physically there. Yeah. Thinking of you. Yeah. Apparently, so I got more mail than this. Their point that they kicked on the weekend was a rushed behind. So we're really thinking about them.
Yeah, I'm going to think long and hard about them.
Don't give up.
No. No, don't give up. Can think about it. For sure. Think about it.
Don't do it.
