With geek icon Joss Whedon recently in the news for...well, let's just say "reasons," there's probably no better time than now to re-examine his classic X-Men epic, the Eisner Award winning "Astonishing X-Men." In 2004, in the wake of Grant Morrison's groundbreaking "New X-Men" run, Marvel was looking for another superstar writer to take the reins of their merry mutants, and bring the X-Men back to a more classic direction.
