And of course, some of their guys are going to be in rumors. It seems like Levine's like unmovable going into his expiring final year of his deal. You got DeMar DeMar DeRozan, who's got 10 million guaranteed next year. They've got some time with that. One of the big pieces that some teams have expressed interest in since the deadline is Damanis Sabonis.
Sam Amick over at The Athletic dropped something today in an article saying, Per League sources, Sacramento and Charlotte have had recent talks about Kings big man Damanis Sabonis. While a deal is not imminent, it appears unlikely before the draft. Sources say the Hornets have some interest in the 30-year-old three-time All-Star. The problem is now, it seems, is that the Kings have been hoping to land one of Charlotte's two first-round picks. Charlotte has the picks 14 and 18 in the draft. And the Hornets have signaled a desire to retain their picks and discuss Sabonis' deal later in the summer. Sabonis has two seasons left on his deal, 45.4 next year, and then the final year, 48.6 million in 27-28.
Now, Michael Scotto over at Hoops Hype had a little more to add to that, saying that one framework that was loosely kicked around included Miles Bridges, Josh Green, and a potential first round draft pick going to Sacramento in exchange for Sabonis. Charlotte has those two picks, but they've been resistant in including one of those first round picks in a trade package for Sabonis. I know that's a lot there. And we'll talk about that and kind of big picture Sabonis stuff. But Sabonis Charlotte, when you hear that, what are you thinking?
Well, the first thing that I'm thinking, OK, how does this benefit Charlotte, especially if they have to give up a first round pick or if that's, you know, obviously where the Kings want to go in this direction? I love it for the Kings. You know, I think we've heard so many rumblings around Domas and its future with the Kings and what the Kings are trying to do. That's like, yeah, figure it out. You know, find a new home for him where he can be happy. He can play a style play. A team system fits his style play as well. Like, do it all. Love that. But Charlotte is so interesting to me. And then when you throw out some of those names... I also feel the same way.
Yeah. Well, a couple of things. The Charlotte Sabonis thing, I could see on one hand. I mean, offensively, you put Sabonis with Khan Kanepel. I mean, Khan, I mean, you saw the success that Sabonis had when Herter had the year in Sacramento, the beam team year, and it was like, oh, my God. of the best three-pointers you got keegan out there and you've got some explosiveness and fire power you also add some size to kind of a threat a thin front line in charlotte now we all know kind of the defensive issues that come with sabonis can you mask that well that's charlotte's issue to figure out if something like that happened i guess from sacramento's standpoint morgan

I might be in the minority with this. I'm not just trading Sabonis to trade Sabonis. And I get everybody wants to trade. And even this front office is probably feeling some sort of pressure of like, hey, we can't walk in the next season with kind of the same group. We have to do something. I understand that, but I'm going to say it. Patience is required here. I mean, you have a salary cap situation that's bad. And I guess my point with Sabonis, it's not that I'm anti-moving Sabonis.
