The third season was confirmed after season two aired.Hwang originally conceived of seasons two and three as one, but split them up because there were too many episodes.Filming for the season began in July 2023 and concluded in June 2024, as it was filmed back-to-back with the second season.The editing for the third season was nearly completed by November 2024.Season 3 will reveal how Hwang In-ho became the Front Man.Cheol-su, Young-hee’s giant robot doll "boyfriend", will appear in season three alongside a new game.The third season will follow Gi-hun as a changed man who is at a "very critical crossroads".The season will be the finale of theSquid Game story.Season 3 will continue the "fierce clash" between Gi-hun and the Front Man.Plot PointsSeason 3 will pick up after the events of the Season 2 finale, in which the Front Man double-crosses Gi-hun and crushes the uprising, and kills Gi-hun's best friend Jung-bae.Gi-hun is unaware of the Front Man's betrayal and blames himself for what happened.In a trailer for season 3, a voice apologizes to the players for recent events and states that preparations for the next game will begin. Player 456 is told to choose a card that will determine the next game and the fate of his friends. The next game is revealed to be "Jack and Jill."
