Harrison Wynn and Brendan Vogt live from the Toyota Lounge. Coming off a big Nuggets win last night. We got a great show coming up, man. Hangover takes. Then we're going to take a deep dive into Peyton Watson's season. Go over just where he's improved from last year to this year. I mean, he has been definitely one of the big stories of this current run. and talk about his future potentially in Denver, elsewhere, what his ceiling is as a player if we have to now recalculate that.
And then, finally, we're going to have our new DNVR medical expert, Dr. Brad Billard, our guy.
Dr. Brad Billard 1:37
Picked a good season to bring a medical expert on board.

How has Peyton Watson developed this season?

Our guy, Dr. Brad Billard from Common Spirit. He's actually going to break down the Nuggets injuries right now, giving some insight on Nikola Jokic's injury, Aaron Gordon coming back from a hamstring strain, Big Val's injury. So a lot of good insight from him as well. What's going on, man? What's up, brother?
Dr. Brad Billard 1:58
Absolute treat of a game last night. What a stretch of Nuggets basketball this has ended up being. I was just joking before we went live. The Nuggets played so well last night that I forgot it was Boston. I forgot to hate on them because I was just too focused on Denver. This is really cool, man. Excited to talk Peyton Watson. He is the story right now. I am too.
Your agenda is working out pretty well, though.

What is the current contract situation for Peyton Watson?

Tatum's been out. Jalen Brown is now in the MVP conversation. And Boston, aside from last night, Nuggets played well, but Boston's had a really good season. They have.
Dr. Brad Billard 2:32
The only problem with that is I still hate them. So every time they win it. But you're right.

What insights can a medical expert provide about player injuries?

Dr. Brad Billard 2:36
I'm leaving here with something. And the Nuggets won that game. So what an absolute treat. Jalen Brown's been a beast, man. And in a lot of ways, he was a beast in that game. But as we're about to talk about, I actually thought Denver had the right personnel to kind of handle that. And I wasn't surprised that the defense played so well.
Well, we can start there as we go to the hangover. Give her some of our hangover takes here on this Thursday. Nuggets held the Celtics to 110 points. We could start with the defense. That fourth quarter got a little out of hand. But before the fake comeback...

How is Peyton Watson performing without Jokic in the lineup?

the Nuggets were locking the Celtics down over the final 12 minutes. Yeah.
Dr. Brad Billard 3:15
I thought there was, you know, there's an ironic kind of, obviously this team would rather be full strength any day of the week, but given the guys that were available last night, I kind of thought they were better suited from a personnel standpoint to deal with what Boston wanted to do. And like Boston will generate threes, but they'll hunt switches. Right. And it's Jalen Brown just looking to attack mismatches. And they're not, you know, he's not necessarily just going to blow right past you. He might try to back you down in the post, hit those turnaround Js. And I just thought Denver is like Murray is sneaky good in that environment defensively. Christian, Peyton, Spencer, these are all guys. Obviously, Spencer got hurt.
Dr. Brad Billard 3:51
These are all guys that can do that. And then Deron Holmes, who I thought moved his feet really well on defense last night. There's some areas of improvement for him, no doubt. Closing with Zeke is the right call. But Holmes had some moments as well. So I just thought the Nuggets were more athletic one through five and kind of better suited to sit down and guard Jalen Brown.
