Chapter 1: What happened in the Nuggets vs. Knicks game?
what's going on everybody welcome into the losers lounge catastrophic losers lounge we are live from the toyota lounge room by our front range store stores towards the official vehicle of dnvr coming to you after an absolute beatdown at ball arena the nuggets lose 142 103 to the new york knicks my god They get embarrassed. They get blown out at home in a game where Jamal Murray got hurt.
And other than Nikola Jokic, quite honestly, it looked like nobody else wanted to be out there. We got a lot to talk about. We'll have Brett and Vogue coming to you live from Ball Arena in a little bit. Really curious to see what David Adelman and the players have to say after this game. But we got a lot to go over. Yeah, man, I got the emotional bends today. This was a crazy night, man. The highest high to now I'm at the nadiriest nadir. There's only one thing to do at a time like this. It's, of course, to pick up my old habit, smoking a wet-lib cigarette to get me through this goddamn game, this post-game. I don't know if I'm going to talk. I'm just going to be over here sucking on this cigarette.
I mean, should you just light it up at this point? Like, can we light it up? I don't think we've ever lit the wet limp cigarette tonight. It might be the night to do that. It might be too wet. unbelievable uh introduction and and uh ovation right before the game tonight at ball arena and not just aaron gordon the nuggets had their starting five back for the first time since november 12th that was the 11th game of the season that was the last time the nuggets had their starting five back They were together again tonight.
Jamal Murray, Christian Brown, Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, Nikola Jokic. My real first note of the game, it was a pretty loud start from AG.

Chapter 2: How did Jamal Murray's injury impact the game?
fired up a couple threes early on missed them but then came down the lane with a pretty thunderous dunk that got everybody going and it's really hard to imagine but the vibes at that moment were pretty electric like the nuggets were back at that point the the energy was unbelievable the body language was great CB hit an early three. A really interesting move by David Adelman. You know, Aaron Gordon, first game back, it seems like he was on about a 20-minute limit, played 21 minutes. Started the second quarter at backup center. Mm-hmm.
Maybe that was to match up against Townes. I'm not sure. There was a moment where I was like, why are we playing so small? And Val was in the locker room. He was in the locker room. Interesting. I think he was just like going to the bathroom because then he came out. As soon as he came out, they put him in. Huh?
Well, I wonder if Brendan votes can have anything to say about that weird timing, considering he always goes in at the start of the second quarter. I don't know, but AG was in there at backup center to start the second, and that's kind of where the wheels came off. Nuggets defense was awful.
transition defense was terrible half court defense was terrible they were playing a zone a little bit that didn't work either they got beat up on the glass and like i said second quarter is when things really started to unravel they lost that second quarter 38 23 they go into halftime and into the third quarter, they were ice cold from three in the first half. And that just continued.
They could not buy a three pointer. And meanwhile, the Knicks weren't that hot throughout the game either from three, but you know, they hit enough and they hit a bunch in garbage time as well to just build a lot of separation and
And then I missed this, but right before halftime, the biggest news of the night probably, Jamal Murray gets hurt, sprains his ankle on a play where he actually stepped on Nikola Jokic while backpedaling, walked to the locker room under his own power, looked to be in a lot of pain right when it happened, and then was able to walk to the locker room, seemed okay, but obviously didn't return to the game.
No real word on that yet. But the second half was a disaster. Nuggets gave up 40 points in the third, 37 in the fourth. It honestly looked like nobody except Nikola Jokic wanted to be out there. They also could not get any rebounds. They got badly out-rebounded in the first half. I don't know what it shook out to be, but in the first half, they were getting dominated on the boards, which was damning as well. But again, they could just shoot. This game would have gone so different. And now, I don't know what I'm hoping for now. We're back into the shit, just like that.
We clawed our way out. We got through. You know, waiting for our team to be whole. Need the team to be whole. They became whole, and then we fell into a hole. Again, back down in the shit. When I think they're out, it pulls me back in. I don't want to smoke any more wet, limp cigarettes, dude. I am 47. I can't do this. What am I doing? Just hearing a word from Cale that Mercury is in retrograde.

Chapter 4: How did Aaron Gordon's return affect the team?
You observed that Big Val was not on the bench during that portion. He came in, played two minutes in the middle of that quarter, didn't play again. What? I thought he did well in those two minutes. The Knicks found very clearly that they can play just the alley-oop game with Mitchell Robinson. Well, that was another theme in this game. Nuggets went to a lot of small lineups, A.G. at center. I mean, it's not like they have a lot of traditional power forwards outside of Zeke Nagy. He's actually their only traditional power forward other than Aaron Gordon. Spencer Jones.
He's even more of a three, I feel like. You think? Traditionally, yeah. I think he's a big guy. I mean, he's only like 6'6". He's a pretty big guy. He's big. He's not tall. It's hard to talk through two cigarettes, I got to tell you. I don't know if people usually try this. But that was another theme of the game. I mean, the Knicks out-rebounded the Nuggets 50-31. Yo, they pounded them.
They out-physicaled them in a way. I mean, obviously, like... It wasn't great in the first half. And a lot of it, yes, people were just yamming on... Mitchell Robinson was yamming on Jokic's head. He did it like five times, six times. And there was no hope to defend it. And I thought when Dahl came in, he actually bodied up Mitchell Robinson pretty well. Not a rebound.
But I don't know why he only played for two minutes. I don't know what the hell... This is... I mean, listen. I don't know what there is to gain from a game like this because I really don't think that you were... Playing with people that were... Like, I don't think that there's anything that David Adelman could have done to win this game, but... Really?
You don't think there's anything he could have done to even just motivate his guys to play a little harder? After Jamal Murray. Okay. After Jamal... No, it was just like... They were thunderstruck. Like, truly. I'm just telling you, like, they... The body language, it wasn't even like they were down. Well, the body language was terrible. They looked like they were cooked.
They looked like they were done. They were cooked. Yeah. They were done. And so did David Adelman. So maybe he was caught up in that shell shock as well. He was. His face was bright red. He looked like, I mean, he just looked foolish out there, frankly. You can't make sense of a lot of the decisions that were being made. But I don't care. It doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter.
To me, tonight, the only real conversation is, number one, Jokic is back. His touch is back. And Jokic tonight looked like a guy who could give you 50 points. Jokic was decidedly back tonight. He looked incredible. And he, again... when the bottom fell out and where our horror show began, Jokic...
did yokage things where he's like you know what all right fine get on my back let's go and no one was remotely close to being able to hang with him no one had the energy no one had the stamina no one had the nerve no one had the fortitude and i don't know if i blame them for that or not like i don't like because it was emotionally like jarring and i was you know again i was jacked up like you would have shot oh with 10 from three also can you yes i mean

Chapter 5: What went wrong with the Nuggets' defense?
They get the weekend off Saturday and Sunday versus the Thunder 5.30 p.m. on Monday. Cool. Then we go versus the Rockets Wednesday at the Spurs Thursday for another back-to-back. And then at the Lakers Saturday. So I wasn't on the show last night. When does statement week start? Unclear. We might have already had statement week according to Adam. I don't know. No, no, no, no. No, no, no.
I think we're about, I believe we're on the verge of. Does it start Monday? Maybe it starts tonight. It's not a good start. We should delay it by another game if that's the case. I don't know when chapters start or end. Today was a new chapter. Chapter started and ended, I think. This was a new chapter and it was the worst chapter. It was about a paragraph long. You know what this chapter was?
This chapter was The Red Wedding. Where you start off, you're like, oh, cool, we're here for a wedding. You're like, oh, not only is this not a wedding, my whole family's dead. I think it's Adam. Adam tried to compare this Nugget season to waiting for Godot yesterday. And then we were all like, oh, but Godot? Don't worry about it. But now here we are.
We thought we were over, but we're still waiting. And that's the whole point of that play. That was too nerdy for this show. Guys, listen, I'll tell you something. We've only got ourselves at this point. We can't count on anyone except for Nikola Jokic, all right? Jokic has our back. We've got Jokic's back, and everyone else can go and run into traffic. I don't care.
They're not here for us, and we're not going to be here for them either. I can't take some solace in the fact that while everybody gave up in this game, Nicole Jokic didn't. Dude, not at all. And that feels good, I think. It feels great. Here's one feel-good point. Jeremy Sohan. Yeah. Worst hair I've ever seen. Clown. Bottom five hair. He has a funny afro that has wacky colors all over it. Yeah.
Which I said on the watch log, you can't have your hair like that if you've got released, if you got cut from your team. Right. You can't be in the garbage time line. Yeah. Like it makes you an actual clown. Uh, yeah, he was a plus 13 and nine minutes. Of course he was. Um, yeah, tough loss.
One 42, one Oh three nuggets got outscored in the second, third and fourth quarters gave up 38 points, 40 points, 37 points. But Aaron Gordon came back, made his return, made it through the game. Jamal Murray got hurt. I haven't seen really any updates. on Murray's status, how severe it is, got hurt in the second quarter right before halftime, stepped on Jokic's ankle while backpedaling.
Of course. What else? I mean, how else do you even get hurt these days? Walked back, looked like he was in a lot of pain, like was grabbing his ankle. Oh, dude. Looked like he was in a lot of pain. I was taken back. to some deeply dark and unspeakable moments in Nugget's history. Yeah. In that time.
